well i have the exact same problem so i close my doors in case there is a distraction like a radio or tv or anything else. Just block it out of ur head. Then i start reading so my eyes can get tired that way u can easily close ur eyes. Next i just keep my eyes close and think of a dream or story. Next thing i know it i am asleep. If that doesn't work try to tire urself out in the day. That way u will just all of a sudden feel tired and fall asleep. *tip*: do not eat sweet stuff (choclate, drinks, candy...etc.) before u go 2 sleep because that will make u hiper and have a sugar rush! especially ice cream!!

Hope this helps!!

Hi. They key to falling asleep is to get yourself relaxed before bed. Try doing a bedtime routine each night - like brush your teeth, wash your face, and get into bed. Don't watch TV or listen to the radio. Once you're in bed, try doing some deep breathing. Close your eyes and visualize something relaxing like laying on a beach or sitting in a beautiful forest. If you find your mind wandering, just bring yourself back to imagining your relaxing place. You could even look into using relaxation tapes - they make 'em for kids, too! Sweet Dreams.

I have a nature sounds alarm clock. It plays ocean/rainforest/thunderstorm noises. It works wonders. I set a timer everynight for the noises to play. I am fast asleep before the timer runs out. ( It also blocks out background noise, if otherpeople are still up in the house).

You could also try listening to some sort of soothing music without words. I think you can even but CD's with nature sounds at Target. If your parents wont get you one of those alarm clocks.

The best thing to help you fall asleep quickly is to exercise. I run or walk 4-5 days a week, and when my head hits the pillow, I'm sound asleep.

I have the same problem. I start taking deep breaths and make sure that there is no TV or radio in the room. Things like that will keep your mind awake. The deep breathing should relax you and help you sleep.

What works for me is emptying the mind. By that, I mean stopping the "thought talk" in my head. Just be. Just relax and experience your environment...the sounds outside your room, the darkness around you. If you catch yourself thinking "out loud" things like, "there someone on a motorcycle out there", or "so-and-so is still reading that book, I can hear him turn the page", just stop. Stop your mind, reset, and just be.

If I can do that, I'm usually out in about 10 minutes, tops.

Drink a glass of milk. Milk helps you go to sleep, and if you warm it up then then it's even better.
