I recently saw a "Best Motoring" DVD in which the following cars went head-to-head on a road course: Lamborghini Gallardo, a Lamborghini Murcielago, a Ferrari F360 Modena F1, a BMW M3 CSL, a Porsche 911 Turbo Tiptronic S and a Honda NSX-Type R. Here's the link to the DVD at Netflix if you're interested in watching it: http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Best_Motoring_Super_Battle/70029677?trkid=189530&strkid=575939156_8_0
The Murcielago came in first followed by the Gallardo, NSX, Porsche, BMW, and the Ferrari.
They talk a lot about the different handling characteristics of the cars. For example, with 580 hp the Murcielago is extremely fast but it's heavy so it doesn't stop or corner as well as the others.
This was really brought out on the track as the NSX (with only 280 hp) held off the Murcielago (which had a 300 hp ADVANTAGE) for much of the race. The NSX, even with low power was so fast through the corners and stopped so well that it was extremely difficult for the Murcielago to catch up.
In answer to your question, if you want raw power the Murcielago is your car. If you want a combination of power and handling the Gallardo or NSX is better.
For the record those three cars left the Porsche, BMW and Ferrari in the dust.

Ferrari cars in every way always beat out the lambo or porshe, and everyone knows that so that is why it make so much money and sells so many cars. However, those who have the money and want something exclusive go to Bugatti, Pagani, or Koeniggsegg. Bugatti is all price tag, power, and show, because around a track, its rubbish. However since, most likely, you wont do alot of racing, its among the best.
The Pagani Zonda series is phenomonal. Its definatly takes 2nd place among the greatest modern cars. the looks are stunning and the preformance is incredible. You really get more of a sence of excitement in one of those than in the Bugatti
And for the first place is the Koeniggsegg CCX from sweden. Its the fastest car around a track in production today. Its ultimate quality, ultimate preformance, and it looks stunning as well. You get more excitement out of a track day with that car than you would in a lifetime of mickey mouse porshes.

Well I would say Porsche has to be the best eventhough I am a Ferrari man I own a 2003 Ferrari 575 Marenello GTC but when it comes to practicallity then I'd say the Porsche really get the most points I mean there Engineering is jus uncompareable to anyother car out in the market and thats why I gave order for my well second Prsche the still to come 911 GT2 (997) which i'll get in the end of the year and talking about Lamborghini I'd say its jus a Showoff's car people with helicopters and brown wives, but still I love them to but not to an extent as porsche or ferrari but I still love lambo, I mean the names of there car jus give you goose bumps like the king of head headturners the Diablo (the Devil) and the Murcielago (the Bat who turns out to be the Devils Advocate).
