People tend to filter information in a way that makes them feel the best. Since results from different IQ tests can vary widely, someone who has tested at 103, 111, and 122 will always tell you their IQ is 122, ignoring the other results.
Try this experiment - Get a group of people in a room. Ask them to write down on a piece of paper, whether compared to the other people in the room, is their intelligence above average, average, or below average. Most people will probably say above average.

one time, a couple of years back i scored a 145. i never thought much of it. i still don't. *shrugs* mmm.. well.

because they are stupid enough to think that you'll actually believe them...i have an i.q of 129 only three away from being a genious...oh well i can live with being above average.x.
