Example people think Rocky Marciano is the greatest fighter ever because he was 49-0. Some people think the 72 Dolphins are the greatest because they went 17-0. Before the Bulls went 72-10 the record was 69-13 by a Wilt & West led Lakers team & people didn't talk about them as the greatest. In your opinion who is the greatest boxer, greatest NFL team & greatest NBA team regardless of record & why?

I think the greatest boxer ever because he could fight in any era was Sugar Ray Robinson. Greatest NFL team was the 85 Bears & the greatest NBA team was the 72-10 Bulls.

I don't care that Marciano was undefeated, I still don't think he'd have a chance against Ali. I remember they did some kind of simulation years ago that had Marciano winning between the two, and I thought it was laughable. I believe he just happened to be around when there wasn't a great fighter to challenge him. Ali, meanwhile, had to deal with guys like Frazier, Foreman and Norton throughout his career.

That 1996 Bulls team was awesome - Jordan, Pippen and Rodman all put in peak performances, and their fourth-best player - Toni Kukoc - would have been a star on any other team. If I had to choose someone to challenge them, I'd pick one of the late-80s Lakers teams.

For football, I'd probably agree with you and choose the 1985 Bears. First off, they outscored their opponents 456-198, which is an average game score of 29-12 - that's unbelievable. That "46" defense was dominant, and the offense was very efficient and undervalued. They also won their three playoff games by a score of 91-10, including two shutouts. It's tough to argue with that. The only team that challenges them, in my opinion, is the 1989 49ers who crushed Denver in the Super Bowl. They outscored teams 126-26 in the playoffs, and their two regular season losses were close games.

I agree, people get too caught up in the record and don't look at the true achievement of a team. I think that serious fans understand the meaning of an accomplishment, but casual fans just hear "undefeated" and assume that must mean a team was the best of all time.

The 85 Bears were not even the greatest team of that decade. They had a year were the rest of the league was bad, that's why they never returned to a Super Bowl until over 20 years later.
