There are several sites, statistics and quotes from authors that I wish to use on my website--with complete and proper credit and disclosure of course.

Is it legal to do so without consenting the authors--but simply giving them full credit for the information?

For instance: According to Jane Doe in the book "I'm Happy to Know Everything", the average length of time a boat should float is 1-7 years.

Or something of that nature. Full credit, named sources, etc.

Thank you for taking the time to answer!

The book itself will give probably give you the terms of use for the material. However, if you give full credit... If it's a small excerpt... most authors would be happy to have you quote them. If it's a problem, they will ask you to take it down. Only a few companies, like analyst firms, require for you to get full permission.
