It was awesome! I have nothing but praise for Biggio! The guy is a class act and a true gritty baseball player the likes of which are not really seen today! I met him when I was recruited by Seton Hall for baseball back in 1987 and he was a super nice guy then and it has carried over through out his playing career. He has not only been a great player but a even greater person for his charitable workings. I will miss reading about him when he plays his last game! As for the HOF yes he should be a 1st ballot induction! Here is just one example of why: (Biggio is the only player in major league history with 600 doubles, 250 homers, 3,000 hits and 400 steals.) If that isn't good enough then I don't know what is! There are his 4 gold gloves to boot. 7 time All Star! And remember he made his 1st All Star appearance as a catcher! Plus he went to the outfield and then back to 2nd. You can't find many players who have been moved around the field to such key positions as Biggio! As I said I think he is pretty much a lock for the HOF and I will be there to see it in person!

He should be a 1st ballot selection for the HOF. He deserves it. He's had an amazing career. People in Houston love him. I'm no Astros fan, and even I love him. He's a great player. He'll certainly be missed next season. As it stands right now, it doesn't look like the Astros will make the playoffs. Some people will probably say it would be nice if they did so Biggio could go out on a high note. Truth be told, they don't have to make the playoffs, he'll got out on a high note either way. When his last game happens, it'll be an emotional one. He deserves to be a 1st ballot HOF and I hope he will be. Whether you're a fan of the Astros or not, you have to admit Biggio is a great player. There is no doubt about it.

Biggio is one of the top 5 best Astros to ever play for them. Playing 20 years for 1 team is a sign of devout loyalty to the team and to the city of Houston. Biggio is a very exciting player to watch today and back when he was a stud. Biggio's Grand Salami last night was like a grand invitation to retirement. i think he will be a 1st ballot selection for the HOF. 3000 hits is becoming rarer and rarer everyday. Very few people have a chance of getting 3000 in the next 10-15 years. Biggio is a prime example of what a player should be. The people of Houston LOVE him.

How many times have you ever heard anything bad about Biggio during his entire career? The answer is probably never, he just went out and did his job every day. The Astros wanted to prolong his career and moved him from catcher to second base and he never complained. They needed him in the outfield, and he never complained. He reached 3,000 hits, always a great teammate, and super in the clubhouse. He will be in the HOF and I would hope first ballot but it might be borderline. By the way, I am a life long Dodgers fan.

He should be a first ballot because how rare is it to hit 3000 hits. plus all the doubles this guy played on the same team for 20 years how hard is that to do in the free agency market

"First ballot" is an unimportant distinction, and completely within the control of the writers.
Biggio is, to my eye, utterly a future HOFer. I don't care if he gets elected on the first ballot or the tenth, but I have difficulty imagining that enough writers will deny him their votes to keep him out more than once, if that.
2pts for YABidgeQ.

That must have been a great feeling for him but i don't think he will be a first ballot HOF if he even makes it in.

He won't be 1st ballot and I really don't think he should ever make it into the hall. But he probably will on the second or third try.
