I would travel back to the time of Kings & Queens and Castles. I just want to see it.

I'd go to the future. when medical science is much more advanced. I had kidney failure a few years ago and 4 days of surgery over a year. If I had lived much earlier in history, I would've died painfully. Rameses II of Egypt was perhaps the richest and most powerful man of his time, and his mummy has abcesses in his gums that caused him much pain. Evidently, no doctor could do anything for his ailment, then. Consider these items before you want to travel to the past. I'll take the present or the future and stay healthy as possible.

Would I be allowed to change history or just observe it?
Change would alter the universe I started travelling from, so would create either a parrallel universe or destroy the circumstances for the time machine to have been made.
Also, selfish travellers may create a dictatorship for themselves to rule (Political, Economic, or Military)
So I would choose the point in history that would divert humankind back onto a path of World Peace and harmony ...
... I'd go to the Garden of Edan and kick a couple of butts and make sure they keep to their fruit free diet.

I'd like to travel to ancient Greece and watch the birth place of democracy at work and see the Greeks battle the Persians, then to Rome to watch the downfall of the Roman empire. Then I'd go to Isreal and listen to Christ teach in the temples.I'd also like to vist Socrates,Hippocrates and other great speakers of the ancient world, and hear Lincolns Gettysburg address.Maybe I'd start at the beginning of time and watch it all over again.

year 3000, that is if man still exist. I wanna see whether we will be living in another planet by then or that man has finally invented some flying cars!
I won't travel to the past because I'm afraid that I would alter the past which could lead to a bad ending.

I'd want to travel into the future, about 50 years from now. Then when I came back, I'd know what to do...what not to worry about, what to prepare for, etc.
I think I'd also have some good stock tips...

I would travel to the time of Jesus and let him know how stupid his followers would become. Then I would travel to the time of braveheart and warn him that man - this stuff is going to hurt.

I would rather be omnipresent because with a time machine, your every act has an equal and opposite reaction and that could drastically change the future, even if you never come across any living thing.

To the day of Mr. Heinlein's death. If you've ever read all of TIME ENOUGH FOR LOVE, you'll remember that in one ending Lazarus's family goes back in time to save him, again. I would make him the first of a series of trips to build a group of special thinkers and intellects to enlighten the future. Besides, I love playing God and it would amuse me considerably to have them all mad at me for bringing them back. To understand what I'm saying, read THE BRANCH by Mike Resnick and LORD OF LIGHT by Roger Zelazny.
