If you shave the area, stop -- the hair acts as a dry lubricant, and it also helps air circulate in the area.

If you use anti-bacterial soap, there's your problem. It destroys the normal, beneficial skin flora, and fungi have a population explosion. I call it "pro-fungus" soap.

Otherwise, the powder and ointment are good. Make sure you dry the area really well after your shower.

You might switch to a different brand of detergent, as some people do react to detergent residue. Use Ivory Snow for a few laundries, and see if that helps. there's a reason it's used for diapers!

To get a bit personal, try a different style of underwear. Too tight or too loose is not good. If you wear whitie tighties, switch to boxers, and vice versa.

If none of this works, ask your doctor about some stronger ointment to use on the area. There are products that work, and by looking at your rash, your doctor can say which one you should try.

Good luck!

Baby powder does wonders. My husband uses baby powder for chaffing. He's just a naturally sweaty guy, too. This may sound strange, but I'd also recommend a product made by Monistat - you'd find it by the women's hygience products. It's a chaffing powder-gel that comes in a tube - it comes out as a creme/gel but turns into powder when you apply it. It works great for chaffing areas like upper thighs. My husband actually stole it from me. :)

Go to a running store or a bicycle shop and ask for Body Glide. This stuff really works without any unpleasant scent. Runners use this stuff on their inner thighs to keep their legs from chafing when running long distances.

Desitin diaper rash ointment works.
Use that while you lose weight on your upper thighs. if you can stand without your upper thighs touching, it won't be a problem.

What does fat got to do with having chaffing? All you need is friction to create the problem. Let's not stereotype here please.
