My personal short list:
Montague Druitt
James Kelly
William Bury
William Le Grand
Dr. Tumblety
I sincerely doubt there are any royal connections to the killer, and Cornwell's book about Sickert is poorly researched and unconvincing.

there are loads of theories-james maybrick, dr gull, tumblety etc etc.
There has been 1 new thory, that it was the painter Walter Sickert or he knew `Jack` some believe that he left clues in his paintings, but like the davinci code i cant really believe this.
I do lean towards Aaron Kosminski as it would have been easy for him to `blend in` with the people rather than an upper class person, had mental problems;although as they were well known he did leave himself open to close suspicion, knew the area and was put in an ayslum around the time the murders stopped.
These are all good reasons, but the best suspect would have been the person no-one has heard of and no-one suspected the person who got away with it without ever raising a suspicion against himself!!!

No one knows for sure but it is out of three or four. Try going on one of the Jack the Ripper Walks from Tower of London. They run every evening and are really informative. The guides have the best insight. They don't think it was the queens surgeon though.

The site below has a ton of information on Jack the Ripper. The page below is the one that starts the section on suspects.

A man named Walter Sickert an artist in France just after the ripper murders dd a series of paintings depicting the scenes. These paintings included accurate information that ONLY the killer could have known. Add to that the fact that no one could find any trace of him prior to his arrival there and we have a winner. That is one of the predominant theories and the one that I personally ascribe to.

I have seen books, TV shows and magazine articles about this. I considered asking this question myself. Some say "Prince Eddie" did it, but he was away when some murders occurred, and there is no good reason for him to kill girls. if one blackmailed him, he's pay her, not kill her. There is a Dr. Tumbledee listed in some sources. Another candidate is the Royal physician Dr. Gull, but he was too old and in poor health to do such murders. I could list several more in my readings. Patricia Cornwell's book on the subject presents a good case that Walter Sickert was "Jack The Ripper". I am not totally satisfied with her case, but I see no better candidate overall, and I have read much on the subject. She says, "Case closed". So be it!

In my view, Severin Koslowski aka George Chapman is the most likely person to have been Jack the Ripper. Most of the pieces of this suspects jigsaw puzzle fit.

So many theories, so little actual proof. Fact is I don't believe that the full truth will ever be known, Like what happened aboard the Marie Celest, found adrift with food laid out yet not a soul on board, Life is full of unsolved mysteries.

I'm torn, I think it's likely that the (not-so) good doctor was the one but it's just as likely that he just moved on. I'm seriously wondering if dates of similar crimes from neighboring areas were all lined up that there might be a clue. It seems something was mentioned to that effect on a documentary on it I watched but I can't remember all of it. It was some time ago (infamous crimes/murders series). That and the Lizzy case fascinated me... disgusted me, but fascinated too.

I say:
Walter Sickert, I think but not that sure... He had many things on him that could relate to being an serial killer.. you know that he had a problem with his... penis and the killer slashed the prostitutes in an sexual way. But this is not the only evidence.
If you want to read more about him:
http://www.casebook.org/suspects/sickert.html or google it.
