Convert the equation to standard form.
- 7x + 10 = - x²
Transpose x²
x² - 7x + 10 = - x² + x²
x² - 7x + 10 = 0
x² - 5x - 2x + 10 = 0
Grpup factor
(x² - 5x) - (2x + 10) = 0
x(x - 5) - 2(x - 5) = 0
(x - 2)(x - 5) = 0
- - - - - - - - -s-

the first two people used the factor method so I'll answer in the "complete the square" method, to show another way to solve this...
FYI, complete the square means you add 1/2 of the coefficient of the second term squared to both sides to complete the square....
x^2 - 7x = -10
x^2 - 7x +(-7/2)^2 = -10 + (-7/2)^2
(x-7/2)^2 = -10 + 49/4 = 9/4
(x-7/2) = +/- 3/2
x = 7/2+3/2, and x = 7/2 - 3/2
so x = 5 and x = 2
hmmm. got a thumbs down already. wonder why..

x² - 7x + 10 = 0
(x - 5) (x - 2) = 0
x = 2 , x = 5

-7x + 10 = -x^2
put all on same side so: x^2 -7x +10 =0
now you need to find two numbers that add together to be -7 and multiply to give 10:
-2 and -5 are the only possible integer values
so:
(x - 2) x (x -5) = 0
either:
x - 2
or
x-5
must =0
so if:
x - 2 = 0 then x = 2
and if
x - 5 = 0 then x = 5

Rewrite this so that zero is on one side of the equation.
x^2 -7x + 10 = 0
This factors as
(x-5)(x-2) = 0
Thus the equation has roots at x=5 and x=2
You could use the quadratic formula to solve this as well, but noticing the factorization makes it much quicker.

make the equation equal to zero......
x^2-7x+10=0
factor the trinomial.....
(x-2)(x-5)=0
therefore to solve the equation x=2 and x=5
