I have a daughter that has been on her job for a year. Along comes another daughter that works in the same building and has been made temporary manager over the other. They already do not get along and this could get really ugly. What is the word for this? Thanks

Nepotism, however sibling rivalry seems to be the case between your daughters.

It must be fun when the holidays roll around and the family gets together. Not all places of business have a nepotism rule, in fact where I work it is definitely not the case.

The daughter that just became a manager should go to her supervisor and explain the situation to get reassigned.

Good luck

It's called "nepotism", and many firms have rules against family members working in the same department--especially when one winds up supervising the other. We had a father, son and daughter working in our agency [a large city cop-shop] but managers made sure not to assign them to the same units or areas so it worked out OK. Let's hope the 'temporary' is fast for your daughter! In a big enough company, they might not wind up tripping over each other...but in a small outfit it could get dicey.

Nepotism is the word for two direct relatives working in the same department or company.

no word, just the policy of the firm -- they pay you and you do as they say -- called the way it is in society.
