I've had a dislike for James Potter ever since TOOTF when we found out what a jerk he was to Snape.

I think Snape wanted them to look at him so they'd be aware his memories were "leaking" and could be collected. I think he wanted Harry to know the truth...that he wasn't the traitor he appeared to be.
As for my favorite couple. When the book series began, I really thought that Hermione and Harry would get together. It almost seemed like a given. So I was really surprised when she went for Ron. But...opposites attract and those two are huge opposites. Then, after Order of the Phoenix, I really thought Harry and Luna might get together because she understood him best given their shared experiences of having lost parents early. I was really surprised that he ended up with Ginny...and then not. Ginny represented normality for Harry, something he'd never had. His world turned real and solid for him when he was with Ginny...I think she became his anchor and that's the best partner you can have.
I felt sorry that Snape didn't get Lily, but he really showed what was in his heart and mind when he called her a Muggle. That one was his fault and he should have known it was a deal breaker for a friendship let alone a relationship.

Snape is really a tragic figure, don't you think? He loved Lily, and she ended up married to the man he hated. I think he'd have been one of Harry's unstinting supporters if Harry had looked more like his mother than his father.
I mean, imagine seeing the eyes of the woman you loved since childhood in the face of the man who made your life miserable. Talk about mixed feelings--Snape couldn't overcome the animosity he felt for James and accept Harry as Harry (or at least as Lily's son no less than James's), a completely different person from his father.
But at the end it all comes out, doesn't it?
Snape might have been a pretty unsympathetic character in a lot of ways, but he had one horrible lot of baggage, too.
I told my husband before the book came out (he, by the way, was sure Snape was as rotten as they come!) that Snape would either prove to be a real, if flawed, hero or end up as one of the nastiest villains in all of literature!
Favorite couple? Harry and Ginny, of course!

He wanted harry to look at him so he could see Lily's eyes one more time. Harry had inherited Lily's green eyes. My favorite couple is Ron and Hermione because of how you could tell that Ron liked her throughout the book, and was trying to hit on her all the time.

He was trying to pass on information to Harry, to let him know Snape wasn't a traitor. If you also remember, knowing the things he saw in Snape's memories helped him to decide what he must truly do. The conversation's with Dumbledore and Snape were also important and Harry's belief that he had a part of Voldemort in him confirmed.
I suppose I don't really have a special favorite couple. I really like all the pairings though, although Snape's situation turned out very sad. However, unfortunately Snape brought the end to his relationship with Lily himself, and paid for it for the rest of his life. That's one of my two favorite chapters in the book. The other is Kreacher's tale.

That was actually my favourite chapter. I had tears in my eyes after the princes tale. i thought it was was sad, and it would of been so hard for snape, to teach harry, considering everyime he loked at harry he not only saw lily, bu t also saw his tormenter James. I was alway a snape fan....i knew he was a good guy. My favoruite couple......hmmmmm......snape and lily were never a couple, they were best friends. Snape would of liked more, but it was never to be. In the whole series i woud of liked to see luna and neville pairing, but i never really had a favourite

He wanted to look in Harry's eyes before he died because they were exactly like lily's.
I love Ron and Hermione together. Also loved Lupin and Tonks together even though he got cold feet - he went back at the right time though so that's all that matters! :)

ok he was in love with lily who had green eyes. Harry had inheirted his mother's eyes. So when snape looked into Harry's eyes it prob seems to him that he was looking at Lily. And since he loved her with all of his life that was y he wanted to see her eyes one last time.
I liked ron and hermoinie. They were cute and funny

Definitely ron and Hermoine...I think Snape meant look at his memories through the Pensieve (spelling). That's why that silver stuff came out of his head.
