Because it is totally uncompatable with the everyday life we choose to live.

Today materialism and individual liberalism has become a way of life. We strive to attain more and more material wealth by any means necessary which i believe is against the indian culture.

The indian culture has become nothing but a commodity waiting to be exploited by the legitimate powers of the country thus making it a tool for boosting tourism.

We may all tend to support and patronize the indian culture but at times like these we will shy away from following it. And its not just with India but other countries as well.

All the people are adict to western culture. The main reason for this is Television. Because of Television and Cinema our culture is totally changed over the years. Especially Boys and girls who are studying schools and colleges follow only western culture. Our culture slowly dieying. Like politicians our people also say something and follow different thing so you should care all this. Our people is selfish, Money-minded fellows so you cannot expect good culture from them. First of all they hate joint family structure now a days.

Lets be practical, Culture dictate certain behaviors which suited the previous generations who were less informed, less literate, and mostly oppressed. Please do not take me as a put down. This is purely my personal opinion.

Today we are facing information revolution, and todays information is to do with human mind and its thinking patterns, people are aware of themselves, what they want, who they want to be, and how to change things for themselves. Knowing who we are and what we want to express as beings is todays mantra.
People in the past lived in denial, accepted anything as tradition and lived up to the traditions even if it had no meaning. If people are changing and are honest about it, whats wrong? Why are people so afraid of change? Does it make the generation above feel they are wrong? NO what they did was right because they felt it was ok, and the prsent generation want to change and that also is ok? How can society be static. we are human being and human beings are vibrant with energy, why hold the energy back?
The younger generation surely dont want to carry the burdan of tradition for every, they are willing to leave it behind and move on. If you look at your own traditions 20 genarations back you have also made a lot of changes for yourself, you are not the same make as your great great and great grandmother or father.
You are living at a different time, perhaps the cuture is not working anymore, and why stick to a culture that makes you feel miserable and trapped? The soul is constantly seeking to express itself and the younger generation is surely makeing changes, they are courageous to be honest. Sometims it is good to learn some courage from them.

If I asked who India was I'd expect the following reply,
"I'm complicated."
This makes following difficult. What's needed is one person
who appeals to a decided majority. This person exists and awaits an Issue of State that mandates popular preference.
Do you get another King George or what?

Simple things are the toughest to follow / do.Just try tokeep silent /mum for a single whole day..just keep idle doing nothing but awake for the whole day.you will prefere todo something very hard than doing these simple things .
But of course , we do nt follow een theose things that can be followed .We are talkers and not doers . We preach and do not practice . the reasomn is that the leaders do not inspire people to follow things that are good .leaders claim previlege and exemption.

Thanx for posting this question. My answer will reflect my personal opinion only.

We need to be brutally honest with ourselves when searching answers for such questions. People do not follow their culture because they simply do not believe in this. The culture is called good in empty rhetoric but who is there to trust it ?
Let me give an example. Recently Taj Mahal was voted as top among new seven wonders of modern world. The way Bipasha Dutt pronounced "Taj Mahal" was not how her natural accent would sound. The reason why she spoke in Europian/American accent and not in her natural indian accent holds the key to this question. For me this is very insulting as an Indian.
I wish I had any right to oppose such people representing my country ( and me). But still
there will many guys and gals who consider her as ideal.

There are Indians who believe in supremacy of Europian/American culture and consider Indian
culture inferior. This is also called slave mentality which Indian people are facing.

Who says that we are not following our culture. Living in joint families or living of children with their parents even after marriage .. bowing to your elders and touching their feet in respect .. children spending time with their grandparents .. this is what indian culture is to me .. and for sure indians are following it.
