SSID is an identification transmitted by a Wifi Access point. You should be able to "see" it by clicking you wifi adapter on your computer and view available networks.

If you want to properly set it you would log into your Router and set the SSID for your system under the wireless settings.

To see the available networks you should be able to click the "single computer" on the lower right corner of your screen. or go to "network connections" under your control panel or the "Connect To" from your start menu and click on Wireless adapters and click on the adapter from there.
