Blue reef deffo if you are planning on making it a day out. There is loads to do. It is on the coast aswell as having beautiful countryside around it. As for the actual place itself the blue reef is far more superior with more to see and do and you woud spend longer there and Scarborough is um err to be honest just not as good as Tynemouth, but dont tell my mate who lives ther that lol. Just along the road you also have a funfair, a ship bar/restaurant and lots of picnic areas. The beach is opposite it and its a really friendly place. It is just along the road from Whitley Bay and North Shields, literally 5 mins and then thru the Tyne Tunnel you have .South Shields and Seaburn where they have great restaurants including 2 train restaurant/bars amusemtn arcades and fun fairs.

Whatever you choose to do hope you all enjoy.

This link will give you more information on whats in the area and you can even look at the blue reef too

Think it depends on where you live, and what else you gonna be doing in the area. If it's just a case of visiting one or the other and thats it, then they are probably very similar. If you are going to be doing other things, check what else is available in the local area first.

Wasn't the Blue Reef Aquarium in Tynemouth originally called The Sea Life Centre?
