How come in many public high schools you can take "alternative lifestyle" courses but not "religious studies".

The best example of liberal bias in public education is that teacher's unions traditionally support democratic candidates. Other examples include, minority influence though teacher employment of women and African Americans, socialized activities such as free lunch, free health care, and free transportation. The public school system is liberal bias due to the minorities that run it.

The 'Global Warming' debate. Presenting this political issue as an environmental one as fact without debate nor an opposing argument is a good example of 'liberal' bias in public education. Showing Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth without question, examination, nor opposing stance in school is how it is carried out.
Any political discussion where the teacher lectures the students on what is the 'correct' way to think should be discouraged. The students should never even guess what political leanings a teacher has. He or she can discuss and encourage discussion of politics but should never weigh in.
My idiot brother is a school teacher, a math teacher. He brings his idiot politics in by ridiculing the party he opposes in goofball examples. If I was a parent of one his students I'd report him or try to get my kid out of his class. A math teacher should teach math not abuse his position to force his views on impressionable students.

In a Washington State pre school, legos were banned in the classroom because the teachers consider the kids' elaborate project an expression of capitalism and "THAT was not consistent with the values we are trying to teach our children"
How's that for an example?

It doesn't exist.
Some claim it because evolution, a sound and proven scientific theory, is taught over the fairie tale of creationism. Why not teach Greek mythology as fact? It would be the same as teaching intelligent design.

- only teaching evolution without having an open mind toward intelligent design which is NOT religion, but simply deals with the supernatural
- in history, the intense praise given to FDR for "getting us out of the Depression" when really he made it worse with all his socialist programs
- in history, the intense hatred toward the South for seceding even though they did it peacefully and legally...it was the North that started the violence
- tenure in universities = once the professors are tenured, the schools can't kick 'em out for crap, so they can teach whatever they want (including stuff that has nothing to do with the subject matter). whatever they want can include bashing Christians, Bush, Republicans, etc.
