This is not a Harley bashing exersize, the subject just came up in a conversation the other day so I am curious. I know that some alloy wheels, hubs and swingarms have been made in Australia for the last twenty years.

Sorry auditor you may have to do some research as HD do not assemble in Australia. They import it all back to the US.

Many parts are made in China, Japan and Mexico and assembled on the bike in the U.S.. Even Honda makes some of the parts. Showa USA is owned by Honda they make some of the fork components and other parts. Check the label on some of the parts boxes, they have the genuine HD lable but in very small print some read "Made in China".

I got a genuine rear sprocket cover that was made in India,a harley seat made in NZ,High rise fork front end made in France, chrome brake & clutch set made in indonesia,ALL IN GENUINE HARLEY PARTS BOXES,so the list goes on & on,you could probably make a new HD from genuine parts all registered to HD with none of them coming from the USA

I live near the York Harley Plant, and have toured their facility. Everything from the wiring harnesses to the fenders is made at the plant. Even the kick stand is forged at the plant. The glass in the speedometer and the rubber might come from somewhere else, but I'd almost bet, that it is somewhere else in the US. True, there are things made in Australia, and now in China, from what I hear, but those parts are for that market, not for shipment back to the US.

Reading the this article it says Harley Davidson are 95% made in America.
"Harley-Davidson is probably the most popular. Not only is the company American-owned and all of their motorcycles American-made; the domestic-parts content is very high at 95 percent."
