A bruised ego? That depends entirely on the circumstances.
Overall; Nothing. It happened, the bruise serves as a reminder, daily, to keep what happened on your mind so that you can learn from it, adapt and grow.
I like the line from batman returns from Bruce's father "Why do we fall down Bruce? So we can learn to pick ourselves up again."
The basic idea not only applies well to making mistakes, dealing with accidents or even being confronted with something that may bruise ones ego and but goes beyond.
A few good points from Rob Parsons Rules...
Focus on what you want to have happen. Remember that old saying, “As you think, so shall you be.”
Never expect life to be fair. Life isn’t fair. You make your own breaks. You’ll be doing good if the only meaning fair has to you, is something that you pay when you get on a bus (i.e., fare).
Don’t take yourself too seriously. Lighten up. Often, at least half of what we accomplish is due to luck. None of us are in control as much as we like to think we are.
There’s always a reason to smile. Find it. After all, you’re really lucky just to be alive. Life is short. More and more, I agree with my little brother. He always reminds me: “We’re not here for a long time; we’re here for a good time.”
...and remember, they can't eat you.
Personally I prefer to stick with a good dose of humility, much less ego bruising in life.

Have a better aim next time!
One of the real burdens of life is the so called "ego"... so when its bruised it is something good, the lesser it gets, the better! To conquer all fears and be humble enough to serve all man kind the ego must be killed and so the true self and the collective meaning can take over! As an example... being in love! It lets your ego die and come in second place vs. the couple and the other persons needs and desires.
So... try harder next time and crash it.

Give it 2 aspirin and tell it to call you in the morning.
A poem for you.
when his ego is bruised
sitting all alone in his room
crying and looking up to the moon
with his hands on his a*se
Sitting looking at the stars
what a disgrace to the human race
tears running down his face
what is a man supposed to do
when his ego is bruised?

This one is really difficult to heal, and most of us, have faced this sort of situation (and other difficult problems, too) sometime or the other.
I heard people talk about two great levelers:-
1. TIME.
2. DEATH.
Sorry, if I sound pessimistic...An optimistic reply would be, "Control Ego!" (Like the great spiritual masters)

You reflect upon it, that's what you do. Next time you won't be so fool as to end up bruised again.
