Hi guys,

I'm after a Sat Nav, and have heard that the Tom Tom ones are generally the best.

However, I still hear scare stories even about those (not knowing one-way streets, braking when you try to update it via your PC etc)...have you found any of these, and if so, how did you resolve them?

Are Tom Toms the way forward, and if so, which one? If not, which one should I get instead and why?

Thanks for your help! I live in the UK by the way, but I don't think that'll matter as most models are available wherever you are.

Oh, and I intend to pay not much more than £150...

Just a note for that second guy: I did search on Yahoo answers....most of the questions were old and might not be up to date or where otherwise not informative enough.

Also your reply in that other question wasn't answering my question, and her question wasn't the same as mine anyway.

Please keep your answers coming :-)

Sounds like you already decided. MY Brother has the Garman which is more expensive he likes it so much he bought another one. I find if you know your surroundings you rarely get lost. For travel to other citys and finding local land marks food and lodging most all the portable units will work great. Uploading maps and soft wear just make sure your computer is not old. I have Smart Nav and it is in built into my car. It is fantastic. I have never got lost with it and hand on heart I am a typical woman who is crap with maps. So Mavis as i have nick named her is great.I can now venture out with out the worry of getting lost. and also if I can not for whatever reason still get a post code to the destination I just press a button which automatically connects me to the main HQ and I can talk to someone who will then punch in all the details at their end. great. Also its good if god forbid you are involved in an accident as they can also send for emergency services etc. all I can say is Great product.
