I heard a low-calorie diet is enough to lose weight. Is it true? I wanna lose about 20-25lb and I thought a low-fat, low-calorie diet is a good way to do it. What do you think? Thanks!

Fairy tales. Both diet and workout help you lose weight, not only a low-calorie diet. However, you may see some temporary results from a low calorie. The best way to lose weight is to practice and follow a diet. Pay attention to what kind of diet you`re starting. You`d better use a diet and workout planner. You find a good one at projectweightloss.com. There you can choose your meals and physical activity and the program shows you how many calories you burned and how many you eat. That`s how you know when you eat too much or burn too less. If you have a target weight, the website shows when you`re over/under the calorie limit you shouldn`t cross over. Good luck!

You're on a good start. But you have to remember that in order to loose weight, you have to create a caloric deficit. If you consume 2,500 calories a day, then you have to burn off more than that to loose weight. The old tried and true, boring, old fashioned method is Diet and Exercise.

It's good that you're watching your calories and fat consumption. You're good to go. Couple that with aerobic exercises, and the weight will come off. It won't be in one week or even one month, but it will come off and stay off if you keep up the regieme. Stay away from pills, fad diets, wierd herbs and powders. They're not only ineffective, they're actually harmful in the long run.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

You can lose weight by cutting calories but without exercise you lose muscle mass. Weight loss is 75% diet and 25% exercise.

Yes lowering calories will make you lose weight. However, are simply after losing weight OR are you attempting to lose just fat and maintain muscle mass. These are two separate things that are easily confused by anyone.

To lose fat and hold on to muscle "tone". You need to be active enough to keep muscle (not just cardio). You need to eat enough to allow your body to increase metabolism and burn fat. You need to have a "caloric deficit" but it usually isn't a big deficit.

Finally, you can only lose 1-3 lbs of fat per week max. The rest is water and muscle.

Yes, it is. As long as you get enough protein 40 - 50 mg per day, you won't lose muscle mass. Even if you exercise and don't get enough protein you can lose muscle mass. Some form of exercising is good in that it tones your muscles and in turn the muscles will burn more calories.

No diet is the best. Try to change your eating habits which still includes little "sins" since on the long run it's the only way to loose weight and stay OK. Some sport is essential and try to put it into your daily life eg avoid elevators etc.
