To the Christians who say I will pray for you tonight to atheist?

Do you say this just to be D*ck heads or do you really pray for them.

Well, I've tried to refrain from telling people when I'm going to pray for them.

But I still do pray for them. And I'm not going to stop, either.

I'm not praying for people because I think that their life isn't fine the way it is...but because I love them. I believe that my religion is right, and because I believe that, I believe that it's the only way to get to heaven. Now, I know that means I'm "intolerant" or "narrow-minded" but that's just what I believe. Therefore, I want people to be in heaven with me. I genuinely LOVE people. No, I don't get Brownie points for praying for atheists on Wednesdays. That's on Saturdays.

I don't think it's fair to criticise this sort of thing if it's well-meant - though sometimes it's just being said to make a snide point.

The only issue is that to an atheist it just seems silly. How would Christians feel if someone earnestly and sincerely told you they were going to ask the Flying Spaghetti Monster to bless you? You'd probably take it in good heart, but what would you think of the person?

What's wrong with them saying that? Freedom of expression, and all that. i'd guess some actually do, some don't. if you say it, then you should follow through. But everyone is allowed to say, and do, within reason, what they want on here. if you're an atheist, in theory it shouldn't affect you either way.

I will say this, to you or, to whom I please, tell me to my face what you just said and, see what will happen. I am Christian but, your the ones that make people angry with your verbal responses like you just did. What's wrong with you? are all you atheists like this, you don't have a intelligence response so, you make nasty overtures in a verbal response.

I have been around men that were dying, many of them in combat situations, I know some were atheists and you know what Pal, all asked for Gods help in the end. I spoke with a priest, a Chaplin in the Navy and asked him "what do atheists do when they die, what do they say" He told me every one has asked for God in the end, they've been so afraid of dying, they've wanted to know who God was in the end.
It's sad to live your life this way, with no feeling for the future, just an end. If you don't believe, keep it to yourself, we don't want to hear your garbage responses and verbal diarrhea, keep it in your own yard.
