Is it expensive? Do they charge high commission rates? How do I figure out how much it is worth?

Hi Susan

You have a few choices.

You can go to a dealer, and they will charge a commission fee. This can be up to 50% of the selling price.

Alternatively you can sell privately. The best way is to advertise it is on a specialist site. I can recommend http://www.theplatemarket.com. They charge a monthly advertising fee, depending on the value of your registration number. They'll give you a guide price if you're not sure how much you should ask for it.

Good luck!

do you refer to a car number plate as a vehicle identification number like what is riveted on the dash board and just under the windshield ???? or is this the TAGS that are bolted to the bumper and are called license plates ??? ---- if what you mean is the V I N number you better leave that on the junk car and forget that sale (( NOW THIS IS A FRAUD TYPE CASE)) and if you mean '' vanity '' tags okay --- there is no problem to selling the ''vanity tags'' --- whatever the market will bear is the price and there is no commission and who is they??? looks to me that us answering folk could help you more if you clear up this question ___________
