My kitten (3-4 months) has been missing for about 5 hours now. We only let him out when we are watching him or when our other cat is with him. Whenever we call him he comes, and he didn't come tonight. We've looked everywhere for him (all over the house, backyard). I just don't know what else to do. It's 2 am right now and I just can't sleep. Any Advice?
Thanks

Put his litter box outside, along with some dirty clothes (cats can smell everything!). Be outside and call him, just the sound of your voice may direct him home - use a high beam flashlight to pierce the darkness. Just keep roaming the neighborhood, have your neighbors calling too.

Good luck - I hope he's home before you have a chance to read these answers.

Well, not much you can do tonight that you haven't already done. I would not recommend letting your cats outside under any circumstances. Especially not a cat that is so young. There are lots of predators who will attack a cat that small. It could've gotten caught somewhere, killed by a car or picked up by someone.
If you can't find her in the morning, I would say to post some flyers, ask neighbors, call the local animal control or pound and let them know you are missing your pet. You can also post to Petfinder.org, craigslist.org(both free) and your local newspaper. Hopefully she'll show up in the morning. Cats are nocturnal so they are up at night since that is when they like to hunt.
I would also say to get her fixed. She will be less likely to roam. Put a collar on her with an ID tag or get her microchipped. Also, a bell is helpful so you can hear them moving around and find them easier. She is probably scared and might've found a warm place to hide for the night.
If you find her, count your blessings. She isn't old enough to defend herself at that age. If you would like for her to go out then I would say to get a harness and leash for her and take her out on that so she is safe.
Good Luck and God Bless

This has happened to me twice.

Check neighbouring properties and ask your neibours to keep an eye out.

Keep an eye out round your own place especially. Leave a door ajar while you sleep so it can get back in if it returns. The most likely scenario is that its fallen asleep somewhere and will return when its hungry! At 3-4 months it should know its way back, and males (unnuetered especially) will take advantage of this ability by beginning to venture further from home.

If it hasnt returned by the evening, alert nearby shelters and vets and they will tell you if it is handed in.

Good luck, let us know if you get him again!

He may be hiding somewhere. They like to do that at this age. Try moving the bag with his food, like you're going to feed him. He may have gone out too, try searching in the neighbourhood a bit. Sometimes they panic when they are outside and they hide, or they get disoriented. This is why I never let mine outside. Good luck!

i know how you may be feeling right now ..

My kitten also disappeared for over 12 hours. ( I had scolded her before she disappeared ) ...I felt bad about that ...

Then suddenly she appeared ...she was in the house , hiding behind some box... She came out when she was hungry

I would wait ...your kitten will come back to you soon !

one of my kittens did that and I didnt find him until the next late afternoon. I later found out that one of the places he likes to hide is the engine of the sherif's cruiser next door. SO check all of your cars..just hit the tops or sides of the car to wake him up and he should come out if he is there.

This is why you should never let a cat outdoors. My guess is that you were relying on your other cat to keep an eye on him? Cats just don't do that.
