I am sticking with my preseason pick of Denny Hamlin. This kid is an awesome racecar driver. He sets in the second spot in points. He has had some bad luck earlier in the season, on pit row, that cost him at least three wins. His luck is beginning to change, and we also have last years,"Hamlin Motor Speedway"(Pocono) coming up. Jeff will slow in his momentum, some what, and Denny Hamlin will drive his way to the Nextel Cup Champion.

Under the old points system Gordon would undoubtedly be the cup winner. But with the chase format and the ability of the other drivers in the chase I think its gonna be very tough to tell who is gonna win. Stewart always has a great second half of the year, Hamlin is poised for a championship and Jimmie is doing awesome as well. Gordon is gonna have his work cut out for him.

Under the old system yes but with the chase it is possible for the 12th place driver who is 700 plus points out to rebound & have a good second half of the season but I still think jeff is driving the best he has in years, I mean what does he have so far 1 DNF, 1 race out of top 10, 13th place & all other races within the top top or top 5. Strive for 5

Jeff is running strong right now. Not even a 100 point deduction seems to even hinder his stride as he Drives for Five this season.
Aside from the obvious wins, top 5's and top 10's he has been raking up during this season; Jeff has finally won at Phoenix leaving only Texas and Homestead on his list of tracks he has not won at. Tracks he has done traditionally poor at he has done well at this season.
Consistency is what wins Championships and with Jeff being both consistent and making frequent visits to Victory Lane, I believe this is the year he adds "One for the the thumb" so to speak with a fifth Championship.

In the old points system, I'd say he had a good chance at winning the cup. But with the chase, who knows. I pick Tony Stewart to win the cup this year because he always finishes the season & the chase strong.

Jeff Gordon without a doubt. Unless he has a really bad second half if the season then I see Jimmie repeating.

It's going to be so hard to win the cup, with the chase format set up as it is.No matter how dominating Jeff has been,it will still take good fortune to bring it on home.No doubt he has the talent as does some other drivers, but it will take good breaks or lack of bad luck if you will to get #5.

Be sure that I am not a Jeff Gordon fan, but from what he has shown so far this season, I think he has the best chance of anyone.

Once the chase starts, anyone can win. Whoever has the best luck down the stretch will win. My guess is Stewart.
