hi there. i am willing to buy either a 2008 altima coupe or 2007 toyota camry SE. i really like the altima coupe more than the toyota camry but a some people told me that toyota's are more reliable than the altima coupe. they also claimed that nissans break easilly than the toyota's. i dont reaaly understand if there is actually big difference between the nissan's and toyota's in terms of reliability. i have plans to keep the cars for a long time. i really take care of cars and perform the maintenance on time. the only thing i am worried about is if the altima coupe will last long or it will break down like KIA's. which one should i go for? thanks for your help.

The only question here is do you want a sedan or coupe? Both are great cars and will last you a very long time and keep their value though nothing keeps its value like a Honda or Toyota. Both will be relatively cheap to maintain as they are volume sellers with parts available at any auto store. I owned a Nissan Maxima for 8 years and loved it, recently I traded it in for a Hyundai Azera which has been excellent to me so far.
The other consideration with buying the new Altima coupe is that it may be difficult to get a low price since it was just released and will be hard to come by.

You have a valid point, Toyotas are very reliable--but Nissans are excellent cars as well. I would tell you go with the Altima coupe because it's far more pleasing aesthetically, and Nissans are totally not as bad as Kias. Nissan is actually in the top 3, Toyota, followed by Honda, then Nissan. The awesome thing about either car is you really just have to keep up with maintenance. Oil changes--when done regularly on any car will keep it in excellent running condition longer. I have a 2005 Nissan Sentra SE-R with 60k miles on it. I've never had a problem--and while at work I bumped into a woman with a 1990 Sentra who still loves her Nissan after all these years. You can't go wrong with either one. Check out epinions.com or look into consumerreports.org (which states they both have excellent ratings all around) for reliability ratings. You also have to take into consideration all the innovation going into Nissans now like push button start, bluetooth, and the new head-turning design. Camrys are really more for old people. You also have to take into consideration 4cyl or v6? Is horsepower/torque a factor? The Altima offers a 175 hp 2.5L 4cyl engine w/180lb torque and 23/31mpg or a 270 ho 3.5 v6 w/258lb torque and 19/26 mpg and it comes with 6 standard airbags. The Toyota offers a 2.4L 4cyl hybrid 147 hp 138lb torque 40/38 mpg, regular 2.4L 4cyl 158hp 161lb torque 24/33 mpg, and a 3.5L v6 268 hp 248lb torque and 22/31 mpg. There's a minor trade-off with the fule economy but either way you slice it the Nissan will be faster--and push button start is only an option on the Camry XLE which starts at 25k and I don't believe you receive as many airbags.... The camry base model with virtually nothing starts at 18k the altima coupe at about 20k though the top model Camry is about 26k and the top Altima coupe is about 24k So it comes down really to saving some money on gas, or looking hot. I'd rather look hot.

Altima coupe is a faster and way cooler car than the Camry. Since the coupe is brand new it's too soon to say what its reliability will be. Advantage for reliability would have to go to the Camry, at least until the Altima coupe's been around for a few years so that it can be evaluated down the road. I doubt that the Altima's gonna break down on you right off, though, and of course it has a warranty.

As a fellow altima owner 1st gen and coupe i saw nissan all the way. ALthough toyotas are very reliable and good on gas, performance wise, nissan hands down. If You go on many forums about nissans and toyotas, youll see more negative feedback for the camry then the altima.

Get the altima it's a great car a new design and it comes with Nissan's awesome 3.5 v6 which has been one of the top ten engines in the world for 13-14 years in a row now.I don't think Toyota can say that.If you do the regular maintness like you say you do then you will be just fine.I have a 03 maxima with the 3.5v6 and it has 137,000 miles on it and it has given me no problems at all.And for the price you get more things some that Toyota does not even offer on their fully loaded camry.Oh and trust me the push button start is nice my infinty has it and I love not having to get my keys out at all to open or start my car up.Well hope this helps

get the altima coupe if you really like it (i know i would). but wait at least a year when the 2009 model comes out because the 2008 is a brand new model and they might need to fix or change some things on it.
but toyota is def trusted by most

We have had almost no problems with our altimas (sedans). The only problem was the ugly driver who was in a rush and hit it.
If you like the coupe, get it. Don't get something you don't really want just because people say so. If its for you its for you.

Definately Camry. They not only look better (in my opinion), but they are much more reliable. Biggest test would be to look at gulf arab countries (where heat is usually above 120). They don't break down as much as the Altimas' and much more reliable.
