It is not worship of idols that is seen as wrong, it is the worship of *false* idols that is deemed wrong..
Why worship a golden statue when the tribe needs food which could be bought if the idol is melted? {see story in Christian Bible}
The important thing is to sustain life ....that is what has to be given reverence, not the little idol ....we must have a sense of proportion here!
A sense of good judgment and objectivity!
Of course, in Hinduism, idols are worshipped, installed by rite, They embody divine energies given by those who can activate those energies so the idols therefore become an extention of what is worshipped: God ... is that not so?
Not worshipping false idols is is a little like making use of your savings account when you are temporarily out of work ... there is no point to refusing to touch an account like that if you are hungry ....you need to trust in the goodness given each day and leave tomorrow to the Lord, especially since all comes from the Lord and He was kind enough to give you a savings account in the first place...{when He was the one who suggested melting down the idol so his children could eat... He is the one who knew what was important: their lives which he showed them were the thing to be "idolized", not the little statue ... } Love God with all your heart ..
I apologize for the little ramble ...not all the information came to me in the right order ...
love and peace

Pati is only for satisfying the sexual needs of his wife. Enjoy yourself man.
Idol worship in this context is having a sexual toy which can masterbate.
So sagun and nirgun both can satisfy the needs, but sagun is better than nirgun.

worshipping idol or in any other forms, help us meditate/concentrate easily. result coming out of such worship, though we believe having come from worshipped god, the real cause is your own concentration of mind. you got the result due to power of your mind. such concentration is difficult without something visible. since this truth is difficult to digest, our ancestors, sadhus, realised souls, rishi muniyo, have shown us short cut method of idols or such other things. i repeat, there is no other stronger power than the mind power!
