I own a shop, and see a lot of problems, but I haven't seen a problem with the 1/2 ton 4x4. We have no idea what year, or what problem you are referring to, so how can we have the answer? You need to be more specific.

Yes. It was a factory recall for a few trucks. More often it was a unseen warranty item when trucks came in with brake or noise problems from the rear brakes. It was a poor metal problem which required new rotors/drums at the rear. Usually the pads and shoes needed replacement too as all the metal wrecked this stuff too.

i'm guessing that your refering to the parking brake shoes? the new trucks have gone back to drum rear brakes, gm says it because these trucks dont need as much rear brake as they had with disks, however alot of techs think its because customers didnt like having to replace parking brake shoes seperately from the regular brakes...

ill haft to agree with mr goodwrench there in 05 they went back to to the old style drum brakes guess that solved there problem the easy way
