Ummm because the worlds population has been around thirty percent christian for about 1600 years? Besides, saying 'the bible' is erroneous. You haven't specified an edition, and 'the bible' is actually a collection of books comprised of both the Old testament and new testament. If you are talking about the Old Testament then i'd be inclined to say it was more venerated, translated and studied then the New Testament as around 50 percent of the world's population combined are Muslims, Jews, Christians and all translate, study and venerate that collection.

Well, it probably IS the most translated and most studied book in all of history... it is, afterall, the first book ever to be mass produced...
However, i imagine that there are equally venerated books or works of literature... the Koran, or Torah, or some of the sacred scrolls in buddhism, etc...
People like their religions...
Certainly, the Bible has historical value and should be studied in that sence as well as in a psychological and social angle too...

Fairy tales are popular. Of course, the Bible is NOT a holy book to the overwhelming majority of people on the planet. There are more non-Christians in the world than Christians.
