I finally have the nerves and the chance to try out for American Idol since it's gonna be in a nearby city. I have to pick 3 songs and I want one of them to be a country song. Which one do you think will make the best impression?

P.S. I am a female, so it should probably be a country song.

I meant it should probably be a female country song...sorry.

Also...keep in mind the song will be sung a capella since it is just an audition. And nothing too fast.

I can tell you now that it will be a very long process of waiting for nothing. In fact, you might not even get through so don't get your hopes too high.

Well, I can tell you straight off the bat NOT to sing any songs by former Idol contestants. You'll be compared immediately to them and it might not be the best start for you. However, if you're confident in your singing abilities, go right ahead. But makes sure you KNOW they'll be impressed. I'm just giving you this advice because you really want to make yourself unique. You could be a great singer, but without a unique voice, you could face some tough criticism. However, this would be just the first round so it should overall be okay.

Martina McBride is always a good choice I think. She has a really strong voice and has great songs. I would've said A Broken Wing, but Jordin Sparks....well, you get the picture. Another great choice could be maybe a Reba McIntire song Make sure you rehearse this song many many times and also record how you look when you're singing. If anything, pick a song that not only you can relate to, but you can emotionally connect because then it will be more real not only to you, but to the judges.

Last advice: BE YOURSELF

I'd recommend some Shania Twain, preferably, "Any Man of Mine," "What Made You Say That," "If You're Not In It For Love," "From This Moment On," or "That Don't Impress Me Much"

Terri Clark would also be good. "Better Things to Do," "If I Were You" or "Girls Lie Too."

Lastly I recommend Carrie Underwood. "Jesus Take The Wheel" or "Before He Cheats"

If I think of any more, I'll post them right here.
