I would suggest having a small portion of complex carbs before exercising (unless you are ok with eating before - i know i can not function if i dont eat first and i have made my body used to regular breakfast) because you should never do anything on empty stomach - it can lead to many health problems including diabetes plus if you exercise on empty stomach your body is still in energy saving mode and you dont burn as much calories or fat. Have breakfast after exercising.

It's really personal preference. Some people will advocate not eating breakfast because your body won't have immediate stored energy and you'll be metabolizing your fat right away. Other people say to eat breakfast because it gives you more energy for your workout so you can increase your intensity and burn more calories that way. I personally eat breakfast before I work out because if you don't eat within the first hour of waking up your blood sugar levels drop and you crave sugary snacks. These usually just add empty calories and often lead to unwanted weight gains.

When I used to attend the fitness club the rules were always the same where-ever I went. Should wait an hour after eating before exercize. So if you eat a substantial amount of breakfast, wait an hour. But have a little something, about one half hour before so that you won't be hungry either
Like a fruit juice or some banana is good at keeping the hunger feeling away. bettyk

depends how ur body works...either way is good as long as its 1 or 2 hrs before n after
i would say both before n after but only small portions for the energy needed in the gym n energy needed for the rest of the day

You need to have eaten something before gym, because your body will be needing energy and nutrients, otherwise it will cannibalise on your own muscle. But naturally before any exercise you shouldn't have a big meal. So I would suggest a bowl of cereals with milk or a toastie with ham and cheese.

They say after because after you go to the gym, your heart beat is still at a faster rate [metabolism] than normally, meaning you burn off the fat you're eating during breakfast, instead of before.
