The main treatment is to stop the itching.
Try warm bath with with one of the following:
Oatmeal (put a handfull in the toe of a stocking, tie it so it won't leak, and put in bath, squeeze water through it)
Bi-carb soda (about a handfull disolved in the water)
Pinetarsol (liquid pine tar extract)
After the bath, dab each spot with calomine lotion, pintarsol, or strong bi-carb solution.
Encourage child to not scratch, gloves might help!
If there is fever, give usual remedy (panadol, tylenol etc) at dosage suitable for the child.

It appears there is no medicine for treating chickenpox Take the child to doctor at regular intervals & strictly follow the treatment given by him.As a affected person my experience is - it is viral infection & contagious - less troublesome during early ages compared to grownups. To avoid scratching by babaies their hand may be covered ith cloth & applyng calomine lotion has some soothing effect on boils.Normally by 3rd week patient gets recovered.Well vaccine availability may be discussed with doctor but to be taken before it is affected. To have patience till child is recovered.

pox is viral infection, usually no special treatment is given by doc in olden times. now docs sometimes prescribe antibiotics, cleanliness is very imprtant. keep the child in a very airy ventilated room , a.c. will give comfort, use light sheets on the bed , for covering. give warm water bath with a little pottassium permonganate solution added to it daily in the morning. rub gently use loose clothes. if u have faith u can use fresh neem leaves cleaned with a cloth for comfort. spread the leaves a lot of them on the bed cover with a light muslin cloth now put the child over it. with clothes or without. this reduces the itching, cut the nails closely. there is nothing to worry. infection will go and healing took place automatically, the scars also disappear in time.avoid oily food which may clog the pores,

The major problem in dealing with chicken pox is control of the intense itching and reduction of the fever. Warm baths containing baking soda or oatmeal can help; sometimes cool compresses or cool baths will calm itching. Anti-itching medication such as diphenhydramine (Benadryl) and hydroxyzine (Atarax) can also be helpful. Topical lotions may also help, but care should be exercised that children are not overdosed with diphenhydramine by accidentally giving it by mouth and lotion. Steroid containing anti-itch creams should never be used. I used the Atarax with my child and it did wonders for the itching and helped him rest.

Aveeno oatmeal bath. YOu can get it in the skin care aisle at a drug store. It helps with the itching.
Motrin for the fever.
The baths will have to be given often but will relieve the maddening itch that comes with chicken pox.
I soaked my lil ones with this stuff and it worked so good.
Then I'd take them out of the tub, pat them dry and blow dry their lil bodies. The warm air felt good to them.

It is a viral disease. Though anti-viral medicines can be given, they have little impact.
Some doctors also prescribe some anti-biotics to prevent secondary infections (because the immunity is week after a viral attack).
Best remedy is adequate rest in a good, comfortable environment.
