The Bible has been rewritten many times. Not everything in the Bible is exactly "the Word of God." I also disagree with much that is said in the Bible. I was raised Christian, and a lot of their beliefs (adopted from the Bible) seem to bother me. I am recently in the process of learning of Islam and am soon to convert (more than likely). Even then, I will probably never fully trust in every word of the Qu'ran either... yet I'll try to never "shrug off" any of what it says. You can never be sure, whether it be the Bible or the Qu'ran (or any other type of religious book), what is true and what is not. Therefore, I feel that a person should live by the beliefs that apply to their religion, no matter how they may view them.

But it all comes down to what you feel in your heart. Perhaps Christianity is not right for you? Maybe you should look into other religions. Search for the one that makes you feel secure. If Christianity does that for you, then good. Just remember that there's nothing wrong with having doubts...

Back in the eighth century B.C.E., Isaiah, the prophet who warned the Jews of their coming subjugation by Babylon, also foretold something astounding: the total annihilation of Babylon itself. He foretold this in graphic detail: “Here I am arousing against them the Medes . . . And Babylon, the decoration of kingdoms, the beauty of the pride of the Chaldeans, must become as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. She will never be inhabited, nor will she reside for generation after generation.”—Isaiah 13:17-20.
In 539 B.C.E., the time of Babylon’s rule as the preeminent world power came to an end when the vigorous Persian ruler Cyrus, accompanied by the army of Media, marched against the city. What Cyrus found, however, was formidable. Babylon was surrounded by huge walls and seemed impregnable. The great river Euphrates, too, ran through the city and made an important contribution to its defenses.

The Greek historian Herodotus describes how Cyrus handled the problem: “He placed a portion of his army at the point where the river enters the city, and another body at the back of the place where it issues forth, with orders to march into the town by the bed of the stream, as soon as the water became shallow enough . . . He turned the Euphrates by a canal into the basin [an artificial lake dug by a previous ruler of Babylon], which was then a marsh, on which the river sank to such an extent that the natural bed of the stream became fordable. Hereupon the Persians who had been left for the purpose at Babylon by the river-side, entered the stream, which had now sunk so as to reach about midway up a man’s thigh, and thus got into the town.”
In this way the city fell, as Jeremiah and Isaiah had warned.

The Bible, just like a hologram (a 3D image) at first glance may appear to be confusing, blurry and not interesting. Yet viewed in proper light (read illuminated by the Holy Spirit) it reveals a living image of Christ. The amazing thing is that the collection of 66 books, penned by about 40 writers over 2000 years in fact gives us one harmonious volume, a message system if you will.

My answer to your question is that if you really want to know if the Bible is the Word of God, humble yourself before Him and ask Him to reveal it to you. Why would you settle for anybody else's opinion on such an important matter?

Blessings,

Jack

Thousands of years of historical evidence through archaeology, things like dead sea scrolls which have proven the authenticity of writings we have in the bible today that date thousands of years ago and are unchanged also the multitudes of witnesses of Jesus and his miracles in church history and secular history of the time. The testimony of millions of believers today and fulfilled prophecy in the bible not just historical but also in the life of Jesus which would have been impossible to predict from many men over thousands of years and was fulfilled exactly in the life of Jesus also the fact that it is debated so much today shows existance of a power that is strongly against it which is the devil. Yes it is the Word of God and it is not a blind faith there is much solid proof of the reality the bible is the Word of God.

You will only find the answer if you truly put a lot of effort into studying the Bible and continuessly ask God for help in prayer. You will not be able to do it alone. I strongly suggest talking with your religious leader and ask all the questions you can about anything that does not make sense or seems to contradict.

After you are tired of getting unsatisfying answers from these religious groups, answer the door one day when you get that knock and talk with the Jehovah's Witnesses that are standing there.

They will answer your questions using the Bible, and not their opinion, and the answers will make sense and satisfy you. Jesus promised he will refresh all that come to him and drink his life giving water.

Bottom line is you gotta study it. Dig in and do some research.
There is a website called equip.org that might help you start out. The site features a man named Hank Hanegraaff who is known through his radio broadcast as 'The Bible Answer Man'. You can search the site for articles and commentaries on your question.

It has proved remarkably accurate archaeologically.

And personally I look at Genesis 1. This chapter is a pretty good description of what someone would see if they were standing where the earth would someday be and watching the Big Bang unfold around them. Given the level of scientific understanding at the time, the only way such an accurate description could have been penned is with divine inspiration.

You can't. As a matter of fact, you can be sure that it's not.

It is well documented that the Bible was written by Constantine's lapdogs as a means of controlling his regime.

Srinivas: Great logic you have there. We believe the Bible is the Word of God because the Bible says so?

So, if I tell you I'm a fish, is it true because I said so? Or would you use your senses to determine that I was not?
