2 possession of cannibis(under 16 grms) and posession of a pipe(paraphernalia) with a minor theft charge under $300. I know that sounds terrible. I'm 26 and these offenses occurred 6-10 years ago. Immediatly after I caught these charges (all seperate) I served 45 days in jail and 28 days in rehab. Then I went to college for 2 years thereafter and got 34 credits. I haven't been in any trouble since then. Do I or will I ever have any kind of hope of be accepted for active duty? Is there someone to speak with other than a basic recruiter so I could better plead my case? Any info would be appreciated.

I realize I've made some mistakes but I've definatly owned up to them and served my debt to society. I'm clean cut and a different person now. I know they have regulations, I just don't know what the best approach is. One recruiter had me ready for MEPS and the day I was supposed to leave, he flaked on me. I'm a little frustrated but I don't want to give up yet....

Ok,...I spoke with my recruiter again last week. They sent me to MEPS for testing and my physical. I got 71 on ASVAB and A-1 on physical. They said they will have to get my waiver pack prepared and send it to the higher authority. I'm just waiting for their decision now. Could be a couple weeks. Thanks to everybody for the advice and answers. I think I'm going to get in. Persistance does pay off.

I was a prior Recruiter for the Navy, by Navy standards you may not qualify, but for Army you may still be eligiable, would need to know more info before I could say it is or isn't possible. Like I would need to know your age at each offense. Do you have anything else speeding tickets etc. Any medical issues. Did you ever use any other type of drug? As for getting your records expunged that won't help, the best thing you can do is to talk with a local recruiter and be totally honest with them. As for wanting to join the Army I applaud you on your efforts and wish you the best of luck. As for the guy who answered you first about not doing it cause people are dying and the goverment is not taking care of its soldiers that guy can fall off the face of the earth for all I care if anything he can move his happy *** out of my country and live where he doesn't have the rights to speak his mind and his opinion. Again good luck and god bless.

dont listen to the first answer, that guy is a dumbass. more people should join now more than ever something must be done to stop terrorism, we cant just sit back and let them terrorize innocent civilians like scared cowards. You need to talk to a recruiter only they know the answer and if they are cool they will go the extra mile to get you in. I hope you are allowed, those crimes were in the past during your teenage years, your grown up now and it seems you learned your lesson. good luck man

why not look into getting those records expunged ? check and see if this can be done in your state. maybe the record can be removed ? i would review the expungement process / or speak to an atty regarding this matter. get a few consultations from a few different lawyers. in most cases a consultation is free. it's designed to be a get to know you / are we interested in each other kind of chat.

You should be able to get into the Army. You MAY require a "moral" waiver, but that's definately doable.

Contact your local Army recruiter. He can give you the skinny.

...the French Foreign Legion will take you... after your 5 year service, they will give you a "new" identity and "new" passport to re-start your life... but... be prepared to experience a military tour that makes the US Army look like a play-ground....

For your sake, I hope they never let you in the military. Why, because this is no time to join the troops who are in Baghdad or Iraq in general. Don't you read the paper? Do you see how the American Government miss leads the Troops. Bush and Company are taking money away from the troops, not to mention medical care!!
Don't be a fool and fight the Conservatives War because they are not fighting it! Republicans and Conservatives in general are perfectly happy to allow the lower class people, the working and poor classes, to do the dying!

Talk to a recruter. as long as they are short in recrutment they can and will let several things pass.
My nephew has taken prozac and ritulin and he still got in.

They're issuing more and more wavers now days. Because they're running short of new soldiers. I would guess that would pass right through.

go to the d.a. and ask him/her to clear your record. if you've been clean for 10 years, you stand a good chance of getting it done. look good when you see them.
