I know this is probably one of those question I should be going to the doctors or what not for but it's 2:00 in the morning and my mother has slept through me having hallucinations and screaming on the top of my lungs for ten minutes straight.

Anyways, I'm having this terrible pain in my chest area, well not really my chest but right below my breast area but in the rib cage? It's not a constant thing, it comes and goes but it's worse when I stand up or take a deep breath.

I'm a 17 year old female and the only pills I take on a daily basis is my birth control [I'm on yaz]

Anyone have any insight?

it could mean any number of things. if you're having difficulty breathing though either sit or lie down with your feet propped up. seeing that you take birth control, it could be a pregnancy symptom or a heartburn associated with pregnancy or just heartburn in general. you could be under stress, and that's what is causing it, anxious, or serious trauma/ heart condition, but that's if you were hurt or have frail bones or have been drinking way too much caffeine. it's best that you go to the emergency room right away. seeing that you are having trouble breathing, that can lead to more complications and just make this hurt more since you're not getting enough oxygen.

I had something like that once and went to the emergency room. I had some kind of virus in the lining of my heart. I would get to an emergency room for this or urgent care.

Honestly it could be some referred pain from an upset stomach or heartburn.
