I would not recommend it having nuts at the end of the night as a habit but it is better than having ice cream or cookies. As long as you stick to something like almonds and not peanuts. It is always best to have a low calorie snack before bed like fruit. Nuts have essential fats that are way better for you than most fatty foods and you can usually eat a handful in a day. It is a myth that you cannot eat a lot at night because it is all about calories in and calories out.

Are you on a particular diet, which allows nuts? I've been told it is never a good idea to eat right before sleeping, because the stomach is unable to digest food while you are asleep. Nuts give some people heartburn. And it's a real risk when you are lying down, because gravity is NOT helping the food make it down to the stomach. My wife's aunt, now 84 years old, says she sleeps better now that she refuses to eat anything after 4pm, nuts or no nuts.

Actually, nuts can be a very nutritious snack. The best time for that fatty snack, however, is after a workout or when you get hungry between lunch and dinner. But eating them before you go to bed is probably not a good idea because, when sleeping, it is significantly harder to digest calories. Good luck with your diet and try not to eat late night snacks as it is harder to lose weight that way!

I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein.

I sometimes take nuts, if I am hungry, or just feel like munching, and always a glass of low fat milk before bed.
I just ate microwave cashew nuts (without oil and salt) last night before sleeping! No sweat.

I have lost 31lbs and gain better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs for more than a year.

It's not good to eat right before you go to bed, it makes it harder for your body to burn the calories you are taking in since you are sleeping and not moving around. You can still eat nuts, its just not recommended to eat them before you go to sleep.

No. No matter how healthy, nuts still are fatty....so keep those as an afternoon snack - not a rigt before bed snack.

If you eat before bed (sedentary), the calories stay on as opposed to during it during the day when you're active.

it's really not good to eat anything before you go to sleep because your body has no way of working off the fat gained. you're just laying there doing nothing. so i wouldn't suggest eating anything before you go to bed. unless it's like water. i also heard eating before sleep gives you nightmares. but i think that might just be a myth. lol. i don't know.

it is never adviseable to eat before you go to bed, regardless if it is nut or other food.

Don't sleep immediately - The food we intake will not be able to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric & infection in our intestine.

A small portion of nuts, a handful, is very good for you. Pecans and almonds are especially low in fat.
