My first inclination is to thank them... but I just work here and feel odd taking a compliment for the style and architecture, so usually I just agree with them... but then I feel like I am sounding arrogant, when really I just mean to agree. Is there a better response? Or is thank you the way to go... Thoughts?

Go ahead and thank them. You can do that on behalf of your employer and the team you are working for.

Savor the nice feeling you get from a complement, even when you had nothing to do with it. It is not arrogance at all. It is pride in your team and those who lead it.

That happens at my office, too, because the place is really beautiful but it's kind of weird taking credit for the work of the architect, builder, etc ...

Usually it's just as easy to say something like "It is lovely, isn't it, it's such a pleasure to work in a tranquil environment" or something along those lines.

I do pass those comments along to my boss, however, which he appreciates because a lot of the design was his input.

Best wishes :-)

Take the compliment and agree with them.

As a representative of the company you should say thank you if they compliment the property (just as you would say thank you to them for choosing your hotel).

You are thanking them for making a nice remark about the place where you work. It may be about the architecture or about the way the towels are folded. Or about your smile and friendly manner!
More than a certain thing to say, be genuine in what you say. People know and will appreciate it.

My first inclination would be to ask them if I look like I did the ******* landscaping or architecture. But then again I can be a smart a s s and can have a perverse sense of humor. Something that might not be conductive to having a job dealing with the public, so I wouldn't take my advice.

Just agree with them, and tell them that you feel lucky to work in such a nice place.

Just say "Yeah I agree, that's one of the reasons why I love working here." =]

As you are there as an agent for the property, it is appropriate for you to thank them. Perhaps something like this would be nice: "Thank you. We want you to enjoy your stay with us. Please let me know if there's anything I can do for you" or words to that effect.
