A US presidents salary is about 450K/Year. that makes possible 3.6Million over 8 years and that to if you win the election in next round spending as much as your last bid.

Ok, so I was watching Brewster’s millions just now and great question came to mind as asked in the movie by Monty Brewster.

"why are they spending 10million for a job that pays 100K?, are they not going to spend next 4 years trying to get that money back by screwing the tax payers?"

Now let us look at the projected spending of the coming 2008 presidential election, moderate estimates put the sending by both republicans and democrats at over 2.5Billion Dollars.

And both have already spent over 500million in just the prelude to primary elections.

Greart answers all: It is not their money great what about the people who gave them money? Every business wants a return on its investment. What do they get?

If all is well then why Democrats cry foul at Haliburton and Repubs at George Souros.?

It's the Benifits my lad, the benifits, when your number one in the world, your always treated as such no matter how soon ;yur tossed out of office or forgotten about by the Media. old Bill Clinto n got 436,000,0000 for his book on his white house tales, and don't forget he commands 75,000 per 3 hour luncheon as a guest speaker at businesses, corpparate events and universities. Nixon made millions on his books as well, and they get VIP protection, and will not, and cannot be arrested by the local police for anything you could think of. it' the bennies, there are so many, so many strings you can pull for favors, and pardons, and bills to pass, all the cut backs, and hands in others pockets for deal made. It's a greedy persons untimate gamble, the Benifits cannot be matched by anyother job. that is why, it is the "unseen" $$$$>

They get big bucks for speaking engagements (look at Gore or Giuliani), they get fame, which can get fortune. They mostly use other dupes money to gain one thing, power. Mitt Romney on the Rep. side, seems to be the only one that keeps dumping huge personal sums into his own campaign, because he can't get that much popular support. They are all looking "long range", not short sighted. Some of them are even looking "long range" for the benefit of our country. People like Paul, Gravel, and Biden. Ron also refuses his own congressional pension, calling it "immoral". How can haters not like the guy even a little?

The job of President of the United States continues to pay long after the person leaves office. If you complete one term in the House of Representatives, you get a pension for life. I would think the pension for President would be just a bit better than that.

Besides, they're not spending their own money. They get it from contributors.

Perhaps you should think for yourself rather than letting basic 70s mindless comedies present you with ideas.
1. It is not thier money they are spending!
2. Some people determine which job they will have for reasons other than to demonstrate more greed and accumulate more money.
