learn to anticipate the time a light is green--seem a little long and maybe will change?? Anticipate the yellow--so hover the foot over the brake and be prepared to stop safely. You lose in court if a cop says he thinks you could have stopped and you sped thru it. Slow down and remember--green means nothing but who can go--a fire engine or a cop or an ambulance may be coming thru on the red and it means you HAVE to stop--can't do it if you aren't driving defensively and carefully. Driving is grown up serious stuff. And turn the rap music down !!!

I can only speak for the U.K. You should stop if it is safe to do so.
AMBER means 'Stop' at the stopline. You may go on only if the AMBER appears after you have crossed the stop line or are so close to it that to pull up might cause an accident
The above is taken from the "Highway Code".

In my state (TN), if you are in the intersection while the light is red, you have run the light and are considered to have broken the law. So legally here in TN, only push through the light if you can make it all the way through before it goes red. Don't speed!
