& why are there all these different religions if being a christian is living God-like???

Christian means Christ Like.
So many religions? Because humans likes to twist the word of God to satisfiy their own desires, making their own versions of what God says, hence, forming their own Religions.

First, I am a serious and long-term Christian and the longer I walk with God the greater my realization that I am NOT God-like. It is sad that so many Christians themselves believe that Christianity is a form of instant behavior modification; it is not. Being a Christian is believing you are a sinner who shall be and deserves to be judged into Hell by a perfect God who may tolerate no unrighteousness, BUT that while He is perfectly holy and unable to tolerate unrighteousness, He is also perfectly loving and thereby allows that you not be judged according to the law of righteousness as defined in the Torah -- those seven-hundred-something Mosaic laws that expose our sins, but if we believe that Jesus is God incarnate and call on Him to forgive our sins, accept us, become our personal LORD and change us according to His will, He is faithful to do so and we will be saved . . . as well as slowly sanctified (set aside for His uses, changed, purified, taught, etc.). Sanctification, however is not instantaneous and all who believe are saved and yet all continue to practice evil (hopefully less so over time) all the days of our lives. This is the core Christian belief, the one that determines salvation or damnation. There are many other Christian doctrines -- precepts or teachings that different people have interpreted differently over the centuries and it is those differences that have brought division and why we now have so many Christian denominations, but the differences are much less relevant than what we all hold in common: The belief that we are sinners, Jesus is the only name under heaven by which we can be saved and we call on Him for mercy to save us both from the Hell we deserve and from the sin that enslaves all flesh.

Your Creator has a name and it is Yahweh - he commands you call on his name ... if you want salvation.
Even in the book of Joel it tells you that if you want salvation you must call on his name and he will deliver all who call on his holy name.

As far as different religions ... there are only two religions when you boil it down - if you take out the names of gods in the scriptures and put Yahweh's name back where it belongs - you will see that King David told you something important ...
King David proclaimed, "I shall dwell in the House of Yahweh, Forever ..."
That was the only name Yahweh ever gave to his people to come worship him in ... not a church of any name - just the House of Yahweh. If you seen this you will then see that the House of Yahweh was mentioned many, many times ... it is not the house of god or the house of the lard ... it is the House of Yahweh that will endure forever.
Yahweh is not a god, God or GOD ... nor a lord, Lord or LORD as Revelation 12:9 says the whole world is deceived and in Jeremiah 23:26-27 clearly showed; THAT ...
Our Creator's name - the name of our Loving Heavenly Father ... WAS FORGOTTEN .. was forgotten for what? For the name of BAAL which means lord, Lord or LORD in english.
Baal was the son of EL, ELOAH AND ELOHIM ... the chief dieties in the Cannanite Pantheon ... and the children of Israel took over the land of the Cannanites and took on their gods or GODS ...
There is only one truth - one pathway to walk if you want life and ten thousand or more or less that lead to death. In fact - Satan has had her work going non-stop through out the history of man ... but; our Creator has only had his work going in spurts here and there ...
See - Yahweh has only had to bring out 144,000 from Adam and Eve until the return of the Messiah (which should be soon - like in September or October ...).
Certainly you seen it written about the 144,000 in Revelation? It speaks in Revelation that the winds (of war) were not to utterly destroy UNTIL THE REMNANT OF THAT NUMBER WERE SEALED IN THEIR FOREHEADS ...
Then the Quartette (as shown in the news) would be released and bring destruction on most mankind and of the earth to the point where the hope of any life would be lost ...
Then Yahshua our Saviour would appear and roll back the debris from the weapons of peace built, owned and operated by christians ... and it would be rolled back like a scroll for the Elect's sake.
There are only two spirits in this world and in the heavens - teh spirit of righteousness and the spirit of evil. You either keep the law or you break the law ... you either keep the Feast days (as shown clearly in Leviticus 21) and the 7th day Sabbath from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown - or you break the Feast days and you break the Sabbath by keeping the 1st day unholy (SUNday) ...
There is only two religions - though it appears that there are many - if you keep the law and believe the prophets - you would be at the House of Yahweh as commanded - if not - you simply are not of Yahweh and you are of the other religion.
Even Athiests are a religion though they claim they are not ... how? Because Satan has deceivied them into going against the law - which brings death ... ever heard the scripture that says ..." a fool has said in his heart, there is no mighty one ..."??? That is an Athiest is it not?
There is only two rulers ... Yahweh and then Satan - you can eat at the Father's table or the table of demons ... there are only two - regardless of what Athiests claim ... if they are not at Yahweh's table ... they are at Satan's and they have been deceived so greatly that they are such fools - they do not even know at whom's table they sup ...

Christian mean a follow of Jesus Christ. We try to walk in his footsteps and do the things he told us we should do.
There are all these different religions because, like God said, there are those who are ever learning, but never come to the knowledge of the truth...they are not seeking the truth because if they were they would find it.
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. That is what God said. But they don't seek with their heart.
