What is the difference between someone who says...

"I'm glad I'm not like those sinners over there who do such and such while I pray and try to be good."

and someone who says...

"I'm glad I'm not like those religious types over there that judge people while I don't judge people at all"?

What attitude should one have?

neither. Love thy neighbor as thy self. Judge not lest ye be judged. Both are judging the other and complaining about the other. I would rather have Jesus' attitude but as I am imperfect I cannot, but I do strive for it. Who wouldnt want to be like Jehovahs son?!

Better to be a "I'm glad I'm not like those religious types over there that judge people while I don't judge people at all"?

The reason is clear:
Why would the religious expect sinners to do anything but sin?

Besides nothing irritates like a hypocrite.
Even Jesus hated them because they cause people to fail to live up to their potential.

Blessed Be!

It is written Judge not lest ye be judged for in the same manner that ye judge others so shall ye be judged. I think the best attitude is to watch your own actions. Although we can ALL be guilty of judging others.

Neither attitude is the correct one. We are supposed to be focused on loving others, not judging them.

me-my self don't like religion-but i love god and i believe in him...but i hate church for all those reasons you mention. I think a relationship with god is Private-I don't think it should be for everyone to know when you pray. If church was more like a school to learn i would like it better-it should be a class and nothing more

An attitide of agape-love , unconditional and praying for the lost instead of judging them, because we have to always remember, where God found us and also we should not think , that we have arrived yet, because we haven't, none of us are perfect.

Both are sinners and whether you admit it or not, both are judging another. If you compare yourself to another, it requires a judgement as to who is better.

Knowledge that we are all sinners. Each of us, when this life is done, no matter who we are, what we were...we must all answer to God.

Judging people and defending yourself are two different things.

Religious people came after us before we went after them. We have a right to protect ourselves from their harassment.

Neither. "I'm glad I'm not like . . . " is wrong, no matter how you use it.

Neither of those statements reflect humility which is a virtue for which any christian should be striving.
