looks like you'll have to travel a bit. did a little searching and it looks like minnesota will tattoo minors, however u'd have to provide ID proving ur age and u'll have to have the consent of both parents AND it's up to the tattoo artist if they'll actually do it. they can refuse to tattoo any minor even with proper ID and parental consent.

it would just be easier to wait until ur 18, plus it'll give you some time to plan out ur tattoo and where u wanna get it and give u time to save up for it. i say just wait the 2 years, then u'll b able to get it without all the hassle

wow, this is a little weird...let me start by saying I love tattoos, I think that they are a great way to express yourself through art and your body. Now let me say that I have a son who's 17 now, but I let him get a tattoo when he was 16 to memorialize his cousin who committed suicide the prior year (they were the same age and really close). A friend of mine actually did the tat, but my son picked the design (a cross with a crown on top of it and a banner running through it) and it turned out awesome. My son already wants another. A tattoo shop (where we live in California) will not touch a minor though so it might be hard to find someone to do it, unless you know someone who does them just on the side, be sure their equipment is clean and none of those home made guns with guitar string and a broken ink pen though, if you're gonna do it, then do it right.

I got a tattoo at 16. It's legal in Minnesota, although not all studios will do it.

Just make sure you put a lot of thought into it. I spent over a year thinking about my first tattoo before I got it. And I still love it to this day.

But a lot of my friends who got tattoos that young wound up regretting it. Just make sure that you really know what you're getting into.

Nicole F: Captive Elements has actually stopped tattooing minors. I called them when I was looking for someplace to do my tentative, and they said they have not updated their website yet to change their policy. I guess they still have not updated it.

According to most state laws, it is illegal for minors to get tattooed.

Although, I believe California is the only state that allows minors to get pierced.

So, if they tattooed you, the shop you had went to, could possibly lose their license and have to close down their shop, for not following state laws.

I would check up with some local tattooing shops, and see if it might be able to get tattooed, but, you will more than likely have to wait until you are 18 or 21 depending on which state you live in.

I got one a month before I turned sixteen and they never asked for ID. What I would do is call the local Tattoo shops and ask if they check for ID, play it as you are 18. If your parents take you and say you are 18 then that is even better. But be sure you want it because it will always be there.

Wait until you are 18 and still sure you want this tattoo. There are other ways to remember someone without getting a ta too. Donate your time to help an elderly person, spend time volunteering in a hospital, work in children's hospital.

You either have to bring parents with you to sign paperwork or get a form from the shop signed and notarized. That's legal but still most shops don't like to do it. Have your parents talk to some local tattoo shops.

depends on how big/elaborate it is....there is nothing wrong with getting a tattoo to remember someone you lost....as long as it doesn't go to an inapropriate level

You're too young, wait till you're 18. it's the legal age & you can think about what you really want.
