He IS a grown man, and can make his own decisions. However, if you have children, it's hypocritical to make them buckle up and then not do it yourself. That's what it took for me to start using them. Nagging won't help and I'm sure he already knows the potential dangers, maybe he's going to have to get a ticket to figure it out.

Only a few practical steps required for an average guy to be convinced:

1. Check the tension and length of the seat-belt/s. Maybe too short or the tension spring is too tight to be comfortable. Have them changed if necessary.Gives him no chance for an excuse.

2. Tell him that statistics and research had shown that in a 70-125kph head-on crash(i.e. against a tree or another vehicle travelling the opposite direction), the person without a seat belt will be flung right through the front windscreen due to INERTIA and there is only a slim chance of surviving.

If he is still not believing, show him several gory pictures of accident victims or print out all the answers here and let him read them. I believe if he is a normal and sensible person he should please you and family members by complying.

There are things that you can install in the car that will make an annoying sound until the seat belt is clicked in.
Of course he could just as easily put it on behind his back out of spite, but there are videos that my own fire department shows (in Miami)
that show just how bad a car-accident with no seat belt can look, (I'll spare you the details)

It could be a little costly, but if all fails, a good cry couldn't help.
Let him know how scared it makes you and allow him to realize how much it hurts you when he doesn't wear the seat belt.
Eventually he'll realize that the trouble it takes to put on the seat belt will be out weighted by the things you mentioned in your question, (Section C), And the image of your worried eyes(CRY!!) that aren't always there to watch him when he doesn't wear his seat belt.

You got the golden ticket if he wears it go down on him in the car right there or later at home. If he doesn't, don't put out for a week. Crude but fair, he's a man we're simple don't forget. Not a joke either I would wear my seatbelt everytime if my wife did that for me. You might get a sore jaw after a while but he will get the picture.

First I would try telling him that if he loves and the kids he will take care of himself by buckling is belt. If that doesn't work and all of you get in the car take everyone out if he won't buckle up and let him no you don't want to see him get hurt and neither do the kids. Tell him he is not being a good influence on the children and it will make it harder for you to keep them in their belts if he doesn't think it is important. Good luck!

Let him get the ticket and pay the $400 bucks. He'll be sure and click on his seatbelt after that.

Have an annoying buzzer installed in his car that only shuts off when he fastens his seat belt.

If you want to get your husband to wear his seat belt just put it on for him, if he takes it off put it on again, he will get annoyed and leave it on.
