A handgun (semi-automatic or whatever, doesn't matter, as long as it has really big bullets) not a rifle or grenade launcher or anything. I know one, but it's fictional. It's the "Samaritan" handgun of the movie Hell Boy. So, anyone know a real one?

A real one??? Well, not one you could actually shoot. And if you mean 'pistol,' rather than 'revolver,' that would make the .50 Caliber Action Express by Magnum Research (Desert Eagle) the closest candidate.

Damage: It'll put a hole in your target as big around as a US .5 cent nickle going in. To put this in perspective, the .45 acp only puts a hole about the size of a US dime going in and the .9mm and .38 Special with ball ammo will open up a hole about the size of a #2 pencil. The best man stopper yet is the .357 Magnum (125 grain jacketed hollow point ammo 4" revolver barrel). Anything else appears to be an overkill. Research, however, is... ongoing.

The heaviest bullet in a handgun would be fired by the 600nitro revolver as mentioned, being 900grains in weight.

However even wider, that is of bigger calibre, but shorter lighter bullets, are the old double barrelled British Howda pistols up to 12gauge or so. around .730 calibre, in breech loading and muzzlellaoding styles. Basically 12ga shotguns made into handguns.

They were used in the old days for defending one self while hunting tigers from an elephants back in india. If the tiger jumped up and tried to 'elephant-jack' you, you stuck the howda pistol in its face and pulled one or both of the triggers.

There are a few guys over at www.accuratereloading.com who have them.

However there are probably even larger muzzleloader pistol types used further back in history, especially around the blunderbess era if you research them.

The most powerful handgun would be the single shot that was made to handle the 50BMG cartridge(as in the 5" long cartrdige used for the 50 cal machine gun).

My son is a licensed fire arms dealer and builds weapons. He has a Desert Eagle and the bullets are as big as my thumb, it shoots with a buck and a flame. One mean pistol. Check it out on the web. I have no clue on hell boy but that gun I just mentioned is the biggest hand gun I have ever seen.

Current production firearm with the most power is the .500 Smith and Wesson.
In an auto pistol it would be the Desert Eagle in .50AE.
If you can find one a Wildey .475 auto has them both beat.
