Consider looking into the construction field, framing/drywall/plumber/brick layers and etc. I use to have numerous accounts with construction contractors and they often hired individuals with a criminal background and they paid decent salaries for hard working individuals.
Oh, almost forgot these clients were in the Fort Worth/Arlington/Dallas area.
These contractors rarely advertise openings. You may have to just search the yellow pages and ask for leads.
You may want to check with Waste Management. It is not a glamorous job(garbage collecting), but it pays $12-15.00/hr with great benefits.
You also, may want to check some of the grocery warehouses in the area.
I wish you the best.

There are many decent-paying driving positions in
the driving/transportation industry , many with benefits, that you can get w/o a CBC. The small and medium size companies are less likely to
require a CBC than the big outfits. They are more
interested in your driving record than anything else.
Many such jobs don`t even require a CDL, and a
low-level (Class C)CDL is easy enough to obtain with only a written test. Drivers are always in demand(and can`t be outsourced to India;) It`s a fairly layoff-proof profession. Check out Craigslist.org and click on your area for local listings. Good luck.

Many employers only do criminal background checks on office staff. I have only had 2 ever and I am an accountant.
We don't do anyone where I work and we even hire work release. Try the trades like machinist.

Below is our list of jobs for felons. This is always being updated to add and remove employers. Employers are added and removed from our felon friendly employer list frequently. The list we have is always changing. The hope is that ex-offenders seeking jobs with a felony will be able to find something here. If you’re an ex-offender looking for work, try some of the companies below.

Well it depends on your criminal background, if you have a federal crime, or felony it may be very difficult to find work.
