I have nooo idea where to even start with this.

If you get married outdoors, say in a public park area, do you need a permit? If so, how do you get one and how much do they generally cost? (I live in Omaha, Nebraska if that helps at all) I have no idea where to start on this one...

Is it a bad idea to have an outdoor wedding with like 90 people attending?

You can have an outdoor wedding with three hundred as long as you can find a big enough area.

As for whether you need a permit....every city is different so call up your local parks and recreation and they will give you a list of available parks and what you need to do to hold a wedding there. They will also tell you any rules they have. For instance, Cleveland parks you can't have alcohol or glass.

You can find their number in the municipal pages of the phone book or by running a search online.

I had always wanted an outdoors wedding, so I too had this problem when I was planning the ceremony. Surprisingly, it was a lot easier than I expected. I called my cities local parks and recreations office and asked if there were any restrictions on having a park wedding, and there were NONE. I married in Texas, so it might be different in other areas. Public parks are just that "public". The only problem is that you cannot stop anyone from "attending" the ceremony. I was told that it was a first come first serve basis for the specific location I wanted to have it. I had no problems with any other park patrons interrupting our ceremony. I've been to several park weddings and all of them have been great. Most people realize that it is a special occasion and do not interrupt that. I had about 70 -75 people attending my wedding.
Hope this helps and congratulations!

Yeah you will need some kind of authorization to use the park and to ensure no one uses it on your special day!

If you are having an outdoor wedding make sure you have a marquee set up for unexpected bad weather or have a back up venue arranged!

Good Luck

We had a party at a park and got the permit at the police station. This gave us private use of a shelter, and the money was returned to us when they saw we cleaned up and didn't leave a mess. I'd start there.

Check with your state to see if you need one or not. Go to the town hall and ask.

An outdoor wedding sounds beautiful.
