People create their own gods and their own beliefs, why do you think we have a bazillion denominations and beliefs.
So that being said, just because someone calls themself a Christian, does that mean they worship the God of the bible, nope.
You can't dump all so called 'christians' into one pot and say they are equal. There are those that know and walk with God and those that are far from it.

If you go to places like Palestine, Amman (Jordan) and other countries in the Middle East you'd realize that Christianity has always been the same there. Where the religion was first born through Peter who set up churches there. I know this because I am from Jordan and a practicing Christian.
Now on some levels I do agree with you that Christianity in the Modern Western sense has become a bit feable

Culture is progressive. Mankind is progressive. God's teachings and He are not. Men evolve and change and with them so do ideas and beliefs, and sometimes they are changed to make the message more appealing to others. It should not be this way but it is and people have their own opinions and interpretations. After time, the way someone interpretes something may become truth to some and is really heretic to others. Basically, if you stick to what the base teachings are, such as Jesus' then you have not problem. Men get in the way. Thats the real problem.

God is perfect, man is not.
Even though Christians are filled with, led by the Holy Spirit, we do not somehow become God. Only God is God, and we are but human, with limitations to our understanding and knowledge.
We filter things through our own knowledge, our own experience, our own ideals and belief systems.
Nothing stays static, dear. Relationships are dynamic and they change. Even your relationship with your mother, father, sister, brother, spouse, children, they have changed and they will continue to change, the only thing in the universe that stays constant is God. He doesn't have to change, and if He could change, how could you ever count on Him to do what He says He's going to do?

B/c life around them changed and evolved.
Despite what evangelical think, Christianity is not a dogma, but a set of general rules that have to be interpreted and adapted to realities of the day.

Because we go by the changes of society, whats acceptable and whats not, every societal issue can mainly be found in the bible, so we judge from society and the bible,so if society changes the believers change, while God has not.

We try to interpret what God is saying to us but it isn't always easy. So our practices will change. But you must remember that God is above all religion and you should follow Him before you follow them.

Easy answer...thank you.
Religions are not God. They are made by and taught by men. Men change. God does not.
Seek Him first and He will lead you.

Because traditions of men make void the word of God.
But HIS love for us never wavers.
