I know that a lot of the confilcts in the middle east is due to religious differences, which I think is ridiculous. And it seems that a lot of people do or don't do things just based on their religion, instead of on common sense and/or logic. I'm sure a lot of religious people will say that they make great decisions thanks to religion, but that is not always the case. For some I'm sure, but not all. It also seems that a lot of people could lead more eventfull, interesting lives if they didn't let their religion hold them back.

I totally agree with you, excellently put.

I do think religion is the route of ALL evils. I have nothing against spirituality, but organised religion is to blame for all wars and hatred going on it the world.

People get told what to think by religion and it removes all free thought. I find religious people claim to be good, but the proof is in the pudding. How many atheists have started a war? How many non religious types have blown planes out of the sky, blown themselves up in a public place? I think the answer is a big none!

By the very nature of religion, people are allowing themselves to be brainwashed. They are blindly believing in something that is un-provable. It is these people that follow "religious leaders" to war, to murder, where as a free thinking p[erson may think "hold on....blow that plane out of the sky, killing thousands of people....er, that's not good, that's pure evil", instead of them thinking "oh yes, Osama, great idea, murder the infadels and then I'll go to paradise"....If that's not mental illness, I don't know what is!

I think, each country has their own LAW and Rules, which differ between one country and the other. Some country are secular's, some based on religion rules, some communist and in some places Law and rules cant fight culture. Culture dominate the day by day "rules of" life.

Regarding what you're saying in Middle East, if you can point out the details, maybe it is actually logic behind it.

If you have to live in different country, usually its being smart to study first their Law and Rules as well as culture which may far different from where you come from. it's for me call the richness of life, (if there is such a term).

Something ok in your country may lead to trouble in other.

Like pointing with your foot. It's ok for some its lead to murder in other place, and regard as normal. (Through it's culture is regard as severely insulting.)
It's nothing to do with religion, secular or communism.

Or in some place, you can be taken to police if you dare to throw garbage or cursing in loud voice to a cow which is sitting, eating and dropping in the middle of your way.

I like all this differences, I travel a lot, it's amazing how we are forced to follow our "brothers/-sisters" mankind's habbits and thoughts.

There is no logic; as much as no logic when people in strain drink alcohol , it doesn't solve the problem.
Or people allowed smoking in public areas especially in an air condition room.

Sure mankind like to feel free, but actually we cant even have a free lunch .

"the very fact that we are human, with preprogrammed physical and mental equipment for experiencing the world, means that that experience is not pure and objective but partly are own creation"
Jonathan Hill on Kant

In simple words yes religion does cloud our judgement.
We cannot approach a problem without all are being.
Neutrality does not really exist, but if you look for things that cloud your judgement don't stop at religion look at all that you are, your past, your present, your family and friends...

To make a judgement is before anything else to place your point of view on a situation.

Well, the religious ones that live by their faith aren't making the news..That doesn't sell newspapers. I don't think it clouds their judgement, but it does separate people into competing factions...NONE OF WHICH ARE LEGITIMATE CHURCHES, sez the Pope. That seems like a bit of cloudy judgement..right there, for a man who is the poster child for spiritual unification.
I don't think Jesus's thinking was cloudy at all. So his word..
"Wherever two or more of you are gathered, there am I" (_Jesus .....any party of two...a.k.a....witness for each other..."Can I get a witness> That's church, baby) ,is the last word for me on what is or is not a church, and you don't need to belong to a church at all to have direct access to Christ or God consciousness.

The meaning of church is community..not brand name of religion.

My walk in Faith with Jesus, is a awesome walk! What a ride! I wouldn't have missed it for the world. It is not for the faint hearted, it is action packed and Awesome!
Religion is mans idea of God or a deity,or the supernatural - it effects how man views the world and the moral code within a like-minded group. There are many false views of God & who He is & what He desires for our lives. I believe we all, would fare better to have a personal relationship with God the Father and walk with Him in Faith, getting to know the awesome attributes of who He is, and following in the footsteps as He leads. We would then live with courage, conviction & love for all, as a guide to our decisions. Cloud my judgement, not at all ! I await the day when we can see God in all His Glory !

It can. I think any religion can cloud a person's judgement. I'm spiritual and don't cling to religious dogma. I've had an interesting, eventful life too.

Religions are made by man...not by God. If a person gets bound up in a religion rather than having a personal relationship with their creator God, yes it can cloud their judgement and cause them to follow the agenda of man rather than of God.

Yes. Anything can cloud our judgment. That is why we seek God’s guidance, not simply rely on the guidance of religions leaders.
