or Lutherans, they've got Stephan Ministers who will basically do the same thing if you come to them for help, but Lutherans get to talk to God directly about their sins.

If God told you to go back to this church, then he will certainly enlighten you about how he would have you proceed at this point. So I don't understand the question. Who do you go to ...for what? Are you wanting someone to listen to your grievance about this pastor? The members?
If you are directed by God to be at this church then I do not think it is to complain about/take issue with the pastor or members........ if you are going back then it should be with a forward looking attitude. As a member of a church there is surely something God wants you to contribute - that should be your focus:
If the church isn't operating on biblical principles then why would God send you back, especially when you are confused enough to consult strangers on yahoo? I am not disputing that he sent you back - just wondering if you are focusing in the right direction - if he sent you back, I would think it would for a good work of some sort. FIND IT.

Doesn't seem like that is the place to be, especially since the pastor is spreading contention among the very people he should be spreading peace. Lots of times pastors become the wicked ones (wolf in sheeps clothing). Maybe God wanted you to go back to church but not necessarily that one that you were at. Try different churches in your area. And pray after going to the different churches to see which one God wants you to be in. And if at the end you feel like you need to go to your old church, maybe its because you yourself must change something about the church. Read the scriptures and pray to have the Lord guide you on your journey.

You should make an appointment with the Pastor and say exactly what you have said here. Tell the Pastor that you will not listen to any more gossip and that if the Pastor talks about you, you will talk to the person above him in the organization. It is only Biblical that you take your problem to the person you have the problem with first. If this Pastor gets angry, threatening, or abusive, then you should report him, too.

Here it is.
Mat 18:15 "If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.
Mat 18:16 But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses.
Mat 18:17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
If God told you to go back there , it is so you can obey His Word and probably leave there with His blessing because you done things the way they are suppose to be done. According to His Word.

The way I see things, you have one of two choices.
1.) God put you there for a reason, pray and ask what this reason is. Is it to show others how to rise above such things? or is it to reveal what a crappy pastor this person is and get him out? (I am thinking this one since a pastor should keep certain things to himself.)
2.) God didn't put you there, but the evil one did - for his pleasure - to weaken your faith and turn from God.
If you need to go to someone to voice your concerns, I would suggest the council (the people who hired this pastor). They should know - don't be afraid to tell them some of the things he may have said about any of them.

Without questioning your belief that God has put you there for a reason, could that reason be to receive a "message" or learn from the situation that surrounds you?
Perhaps God meant for you to be there in order to experience such bad behavior and ill will so that when the time is right, you will recognize the absense of such in a new congregation within a different church....just a thought.
All things happen for a reason and according to God's plan. All things that we experience carry a message for us from God, whether the experiences are good or bad. But it is solely up to us to "pay attention" to the messages, learn from them and be thankful for them.

I'm an ordained minister. That sounds like a bunch of Drama. Ignore what God told you and leave those quarreling dorks. Find a church where petty politics and moronic drama are discouraged, not used by the minister for his own, sick amusement.

prayer and fasting. God will help. You need to be very careful in church a lot of people have grown up in the church and are accustom to it but never really knowing God.
