If you were to go to a church called "Episcopal church of our savior" what kind of church would it be? What religion? I'm not familiar with the term Episcopal.

The Episcopal Church is an American branch of the Anglican church. It is a Protestant church, but is ritually similar to Roman Catholicism. As a Protestant church, it is not under the authority of Rome. Liturgically, it can be very traditional, but is often theologically progressive. The largest branch of the Episcopal Church ordains women, and has also ordained a gay bishop, making them one of the more liberal mainline Christian denominations.

The Episcopal Church is an offshoot of the Anglican Church, and is mostly in America.

There are two factions of Episcopal churches. Very liberal, and very conservative. Currently they are at odds with each other. The conservative branch wants to break away from the liberal branch altogether.

My boyfriend belongs to a liberal Episcopal Church. It's one of the more progressive forms of religion currently in the mainstream.
