Dairy is cow's milk or anything made from cow's milk. This includes: ice cream, cheese, milk, cottage cheese, and some other things.
Soy milk or rice milk are not dairy products. One is made from soybeans and the other (I believe) is made from rice. Neither contains lactose.
I don't know much about rice milk, but I do know that soy milk is nutritious and has many cancer fighting properties. Some people just have to get used to the slightly different flavor and the slightly darker color. You may also find soy cheese, soy cream (takes the place of ice cream) and even soy yogurt. The soy cream is very good. It may cause flatulence (gas) until your system gets used to soy products.
Hope you're feeling better soon.

any milk or milk by-products, such as cheeses, ice cream, butter, etc is considered dairy. Soy milk is okay, as is rice milk. Eggs are considered dairy, but as they don't come from a cow, I am not sure that would be included in your excluding dairy--same goes for goat's milk and it's by-products. To be on the safe side, ask your doctor to specify what he includes in 'dairy'.

soy and rice are not milks actually you probably need to avoid lactose or fat and some milks vary like deer milk is low in lactose goat milk is milk find out why you need to avoid milk because their are dairy products that might be included or not....cows milk is very high in lactose a milk sugar but is easily obtained at low fat levels 1 or 2 %.

cows milk is regulated by the federal govt and has to comply with federal standards that make it no good 4 you anymore. vitamin d3 is one example that has been linked with leukemia, liquid antibiotics in there is another no no. and soy and rice and ALMOND milk are not dairy.you should stay away from soy for hormone reasons if you are a guy and soy is also being engineered to resist pests on the farm genetically and cause you to ingest a pesticide in the soy similar to the weed killer round up!!! unless it is organic soy. almond milk is your safest choice though.but i use rice milk. it is good on cereal

Soy milk comes from soy beans...rice milk comes from rice.....and cows milk comes from cows. You need to look in the ingredients on everything you consume to see if it has any milk derivatives from cows milk....that is all....you are safe with the rice and soy milk, it contains nothing from animals!
